景德镇素有"瓷都"之称，这里千年窑火不断，其瓷器以"白如玉，明如镜，薄如纸，声如磬"的独特风格蜚声海内外。景德镇瓷业辉煌与其先进的制瓷工艺密不可分，在长期制瓷过程中，形成了一套严谨的传统手工制瓷工艺。

　　明代科学家宋应星的《天工开物》记载：“共计一坯之力，过手七十二，方克成器。”一只普通的杯子细分起来工序达到72道之多，每道工序都简化到不能再简化的程度。炼泥的只管炼泥，拉坯的只管拉坯，彩绘者也是画者画而不染，染者染而不画，如此明细分工提高了制瓷效率，也使景德镇瓷器得以成为全国瓷器的翘楚。
