      《在人间》是苏联伟大的革命作家高尔基先生三部曲（另二部是《童年》和《我的大学》）中的一部，作品介绍了高尔基青少年时代的艰苦生活和思想成长过程。《在人间》连环画是我国著名连环画家董洪元先生根据高尔基同名自传小说和电影而创作绘画的一部作品。这本连环画叙述高尔基少年时代的生活，苦难的生活逼着十岁的高尔基自找生路。他做过鞋店学徒、洗碗工人，在绘画师家和圣像作坊当过学徒，还做过各种工役，受尽欺凌、侮辱、愚弄、甚至毒打和陷害，这一切使高尔基早早就体验了社会生活底层的艰辛，认识到人性的丑恶。在同文物鉴定人、司炉工、木匠等人的交往中也使他感到人性的多面与复杂。不过，外婆的善良、厨师的正直、玛戈尔皇后的博学，又使他看到生活的光明面。在这些年月里，少年时代的高尔基虽然经受了剥削阶级的残酷压迫和欺侮，但困难的生活环境又把高尔基锻炼得更加坚强。特别是他在和工人们的共同劳动中，受到极为宝贵的教育。这时期，他又看了不少揭露黑暗社会、激励革命斗志的书。这一切使这位伟大的革命作家在少年时代受到深刻影响，他对当时现实生活的不满和对压迫者的憎恨和反抗情绪，愈来愈强烈了。
