Question16: Since "make from","make of" and "make up of"
have
the same meaning of "produce",can I use them
interchangeably?
Answer:Though the meanings are
similar,there're slight differences
between them and it doesn't make
sense if we replace them casually.
When you use "make from" to describe
the act of making,usually you
are not able to know the raw material of
the products (glass, paper
etc.)while "make of" is just the opposite
(desk, chair etc.). When
a product is "made up of"something, the
product can mostly be
recognized as a mixture. And sometime its usage
is the same as
"compose" or "consist", e.g. The City of Shanghai is
made up of ten
districts.
问题16: "make up", "make
from" 和 "make up of" 都有“制造”的意思,
是用make
如果是make
up of的话,
The
City of Shanghai is made up of ten districts.
