Non-confrontational opposition is a prerequisite in building relationship between the two new-model countries—China and USA.

Studies show there were 15 times in history that a new-model country emerged.
其中有11次与既有大国之间发生了对抗和战争。
Among them, eleven times things ended with bitter encounters and wars against existing mega countries.
但现在的世界已今非昔比，
But today’s world is different from that in the past.
中美之间乃至全球各国之间已是日趋紧密的利益共同体，
Between China and USA, and even between different countries of the world, they have increasingly been becoming a tightly knitted community sharing mutual benefits.
对抗将是双输，战争没有出路。
Opposition is a lose-lose situation, and there’s no way out with war.
不冲突、不对抗的宣示，就是要顺应全球化潮流，改变对中美关系的负面预期，解决两国之间的战略互不信，构建对中美关系前景的正面信心。
Declaration of non-confrontation and non-opposition is to conform with the trend of globalization, alter the pessimistic expectation in China-USA relationship, resolve the untrusting strategy between the two countries, and build future China-USA relationship with positive confidence.
相互尊重，是构建中美新型大国关系的基本原则。
Mutual respect is the fundamental principle in building relationship between the two new-model countries of China and USA.
世界是多样的，
The world is multifaceted.
中美作为两个社会制度不同、历史文化背景各异，同时又利益相互交织的大国，
These two big countries have different social systems as well as historical and cultural backgrounds, and yet their shared benefits are intertwined.
相互尊重就显得尤为重要。
As such, mutual respect is seen to be particularly important.
我们只有相互尊重对方人民选择的制度与道路，相互尊重彼此的核心利益与关切，
It’s essential that we respect other’s systems and paths chosen by their people together with their core interests and concerns.
才能求同存异，
Based on those, we could seek coexistence with our respective common grounds and differences.
进而聚同化异，实现两国的和谐相处。
After that, we could go a step further to pool our commonalities and resolve our dissimilarities to bring about harmony between the two countries in dealing with each other.

合作共赢，是中美构建新型大国关系的必由之路。
Cooperative win-win is the destined path in building the new-model country relationship for China and USA.
中美双方在双边关系各领域都有着广泛合作需求和巨大合作潜力。
For China and USA in different realms of the bilateral relationship, they have broad needs and huge potentials for cooperation.
此外，作为两个大国，环顾当今世界，从反恐到网络安全，从核不扩散到气候变化，从中东和平到非洲发展，也都离不开中美两国的共同参与、合作和贡献。
Looking around today’s world, from anti-terrorism to internet safeguard, from non-proliferation of nuclear weapon to climate changes, and from Middle East peace to Africa’s development, they cannot get away from the participation, cooperation and contribution of both China and USA.
因此，中美只有始终坚持合作，不断加强合作，才能实现共赢，
Therefore, it’s only with China/USA’s cooperation persistently from start to end and continuously strengthening that we can realize the win-win result.
而这个共赢，不仅是中美的共赢，还应当是世界各国的共赢。
And this win-win is not only that of China/USA, but one that is of various countries in the world.
