Question:
求帮忙分析一下这句话?

Though they are running out of food and drink, the men are cheerful and confident that they will get out soon.

confident 是形容词,形容词后面跟从句是什么从句?

alexcwlin comments:

The clause “that they will get out soon” is an Adverbial Clause which modifies the Adjectives “cheerful” and “confident” in explaining the reasons why they are so “cheerful” and “confident”.

This Adverbial Clause is introduced by the Subordinating Conjunction “that”.

One internet source at:
https://www.englishgrammar.org/adverb-clauses-reason/ describes this type of Adverbial Clause as an Adverb Clause of reason”.

It gives three examples which you can readily relate to your sentence:

a.      I am glad that you have come.

b.     My parents were disappointed that I didn’t get the scholarship.

c.      He was furious that his book was panned by most reviewers.

The Adverbial Clauses are in bold, and you can see that they are modifying Adjectives “glad”, “disappointed” and “furious” immediately before them, just like how “that they will get out soon” modifies the Adjectives “cheerful” and “confident” in your sentence.
