Ok right then, well the piece of equipment that I’d like to talk about is my water dispenser, because it’s absolutely essential for me and my family. And we use it the whole time, basically because the tap water isn’t really safe to drink. You know, it’s filled with various impurities and chemicals, so you don’t really wanna be drinking it!

So yeah, basically we rely on our water dispenser for all our drinking water, and we also use it for cooking as well. So out of all the things in my home, it’s definitely one of the most important to us, and um… I don’t know what I’d do without it really! As I say, the tap water isn’t safe to drink. I mean you can boil it first, then drink it, but it doesn’t taste great, you know, it’s got a funny flavour to it, whereas the water that we get through our water dispenser is more or less tasteless, which is what I like!

And um… what else is there to say about it?  Um… I guess I should also add the point that pretty much every household in China has one these, at least in the major cities anyway, so they’re, like, super popular here, and pretty cheap as well. I mean, the dispenser probably costs around a hundred rmb or so, and then the big drum of water which you put on top only costs about 10 to 15 rmb, something like that. So it’s probably the cheapest way to get clean drinking water, and the most convenient, because you just need to make a call and then the water gets delivered to your home, which is just as well because the water drums weigh an absolute ton! And I suppose I could just buy bottled water from the shops, but I think it would be a lot more effort, and probably a lot more expensive as well.
