Athletes missing gold still shine for history books

The most moving moments of Tokyo 2020 involve more than just winning gold medals. When athletes struggle, make breakthroughs, and challenge and transcend themselves, they create history and also highlight the significance of the Olympic Games by bravely competing. We are proud of them even when they don't bring home the gold.

2020年东京奥运会最感人的不仅仅是那些夺冠的时刻。当运动员们在比赛中奋力拼搏，克服困难，挑战自我时，他们创造了历史，他们身上深刻的体现着现代奥林匹克“更高、更快、更强”的体育精神。即使他们没有赢得金牌，我们也为他们感到骄傲。

 

Sprinter Su Bingtian ran into the record books at the Tokyo 2020 Games on Sunday when he became the first Chinese athlete to qualify for the men's 100-meter sprint final at an Olympics, setting a new Asian record on the way.

在2020年东京奥运会上，短跑运动员苏炳添跑出9秒83的成绩刷新亚洲纪录，成为首位晋级奥运会男子100米决赛的中国运动员。

Su was ultimately let down by a slow start out of the blocks in the final to finish sixth in 9.98. However, his stunning semifinal victory to qualify with the fastest time was already inspiration enough for young sprinters across Asia to follow in his lightning-fast steps.

虽然苏炳添在决赛中因为起跑速度慢半拍而失利，最终以9.98的成绩获得第六名。但是他在半决赛中的惊人表现，已经足够激励亚洲各地的年轻短跑运动员们追随他闪电般的步伐去创造更优异的成绩。

 

Wang Chunyu set her personal best with 1 minute 57 seconds, finishing fifth in the women's 800m final at Tokyo Olympics. She is the first Chinese to qualify for the Olympic women's 800m final.

在东京奥运会女子800米决赛中，中国选手王春雨获得第五名，跑出1分57秒的个人最好成绩，成为第一位获得奥运会女子800米决赛资格的中国人。

"I want to try for an even better ranking in the final," said Wang. "I have proved that Asians and Chinese can make it to the final (of the women's 800m).

"王春雨说道：“我想在决赛中取得更好的名次，我已经证明亚洲人和中国人都可以进入(女子800米)决赛。”

 

China's Liu Zhiyu and Zhang Liang finished their race in 6 minutes 3.63 seconds for a bronze, a historic first Olympic medal not only for the Chinese men's rowing team but also for Asia.

中国选手刘志宇和张亮以6分3.63秒的成绩完成了男子双人双桨比赛，获得一枚铜牌。这不仅是中国男子赛艇队历史上的第一枚奥运奖牌，也是亚洲人在该项目上的第一枚奥运奖牌。

 

China's 16-year-old Zeng Wenhui finished sixth with 9.66 points. She successfully repeated her kickflip 50-50, which contributed to her qualification, earning a game best of 4.93 points, but that was the only trick she made in the final.

16岁的中国少女曾文慧在滑板比赛中以9.66分名列第六。她成功完成大招kf背身5050，赢得了4.93分的比赛最高分，可惜这也是她在决赛中唯一完成的招式。

After skateboarding was confirmed as an official Olympic event in 2016, China started to form teams to participate in all kinds of international competitions at all levels.

滑板从2016年被确定为正式奥运会项目后，中国就开始召集运动员组队参加各类滑板国际赛事。
