这是一本回忆录似的绘本，描写了阿巴拉契亚山脉的细致的生活状态，可能小孩子看起来没太有深的体会，画面风格也是淡黄色的旧照片的感觉，但是随着年龄和阅历的增长，孩子们可能会发现这是一本不可多得的温情绘本，它是那么地温暖人心，虽然山区的生活不那么丰富，但是在作者的笔下却是这么的开心和富足，让孩子们体会精神世界的丰盈，胜过物质世界的泛滥。这可能就是这本凯迪克银奖作品带给我们的思考。
这个家庭是爷爷奶奶，我和弟弟构成的，我们不禁想知道，他们的爸爸妈妈去哪里了？是出外谋生了吗？
还是遭遇不测了呢？
虽然无从得知，但是我们能体会到绘本带给我们的乐观和豁达。没有多愁善感的情绪在里面。朴实无华的生活，却可以活的精彩和丰富。
现在物质生活丰富，孩子们反而不懂得珍惜，看了这个绘本，希望能给孩子们一点启示。爱乐娃泽妈很喜欢用这本绘本跟泽泽（2.10）讲故事，虽然他理解的还不是太深刻，但是他会静静的听，好像听进去了，一般的道理融入绘本自然而不抵触。

这个很温情的画面，让孩子的童年充满温暖和幸福。爷爷这么大年纪还在矿坑工作，可以看出家庭很不富裕，需要爷爷工作来维持生计。但这丝毫没有阻碍爷爷表达对我们的爱，下班回来都要亲吻我们。
爱就是让孩子感觉的到，所以孩子们是被幸福包围着的。
我和弟弟的衣着都很朴素。弟弟可能是端着水壶让爷爷喝水。
