能够战胜别人的，其人肯定有力量。

但能战胜自己的，最为强大非寻常。

 

 In chapter 33 of Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching, he said:

Those who can overcome others rely on strength, and those who can overcome themselves are strongest.

He who can overcome others must have power.

But that which conquers itself is the most powerful and unusual.

人生路上最大敌，就是自己的情绪。

任何时候都不该，甘做情绪的奴隶。

喜时不诺须慎言，怒时不争沉住气。

哀时不语紧闭嘴，倦时有终成大事。

The biggest enemy in life is your emotions.

Never be a slave to your emotions.

When you are happy, you must speak carefully, and when you are angry, you must hold your breath. 

Sad silent shut the mouth, tired and eventually become a big thing.

能够控制自己的，各种情绪的人们。

便是这个人世间，最有城府厉害人。

人逢喜事精神爽，信口开河言多狂。

喜时不诺能自持，免得轻言惹祸殃。

People who can control their emotions.

This is the most powerful man in the world.

When people are happy, they are crazy. 

When you are happy, you can hold on to yourself, so as not to cause trouble by speaking lightly.

翻开老子道德经，六十三章之中讲：

轻易许诺必寡信，多易必然灾难降。

轻易许下的承诺，难以实现见经常。

尤其是在狂喜时，轻诺更会惹祸殃。

Opening the Tao Te Ching of Lao Tzu, chapter 63 says:

Easy promises will be few, many easy disaster will fall.

Promises made easily are hard to keep. 

Especially in a time of ecstasy, a light promise will cause trouble.

从前动乱年代间，各国纷争战尘飞。

一位将军竟擅自，带领自己的部队。

前往攻打一小国，自立为王不回归。

将军担心自君主，派兵讨伐来治罪。

In the past, during the turbulent times, countries fought and fought.

A general took the liberty of leading his own troops.

To attack a small country, make himself king and never return.

The general, fearing for his majesty, sent in a crusade to punish him.

将军便命两士兵，带人戍守其边界。

任务不仅很辛苦，而且十分的危险。

作为臣子自然是，不敢推脱只得去。

二人斗胆问将军：戍守边界需多久？

The general ordered two soldiers to take men and guard the border.

The task is not only hard, but also very dangerous.

As a minister naturally is, dare not shirk had to go.

The two men dared to ask the general: How long will it take to defend the border?

二人听到甚欣喜，召集兵力戍边去。

时光匆匆一年过，一转眼时已到期。

迟迟不见召回令，便派人问将军去。

怎料将军竟然说：我根本就没此意。

The two men were overjoyed when they heard this, and summoned their troops to guard the border.

Time flies by a year, a blink of an eye has expired.

When there was no recall, he sent someone to ask the general.

Unexpectedly the general said: I have no intention at all.

从来就没有计划，撤他们回城里家。

就让他们好好地，在边界上戍守吧。

二人一听怒气发，联合士兵造反了。

杀了将军泄了愤，将军失信身遭杀。

盛喜之时诺勿许，喜时之言多失信。

人在极度欣喜时，承诺切不可随意。

此时我们往往会，被那高兴的情绪。

冲昏头脑胡乱语，满口大话无节制。

一旦喜不能自持，许下诺言成空纸。

When you are happy, do not promise, and when you are happy, your words are broken.

In times of great joy, promises must not be made casually.

At this point, we tend to get caught up in that happy emotion.

It's crazy, it's crazy, it's crazy. 

Once you can't hold on to yourself, make a promise into an empty paper.

                          诺言一旦不兑现，失信于人惹人嫌。

                          便免不了将自己，陷于不义的深渊。

车无辕而不能行，人无信则不能立。

无法完成的诺言，不要随口就应允。

If a promise is not kept, a broken promise is hated.

I can't help sinking myself into the abyss of injustice.

A car without regulus can not go, a person without faith can not stand. 

Don't just promise something you can't keep.

  

利而不害天之道，圣人之道为不争。

老子曾说帮万物，不与万物去相争。

人活一世以为然，最高境界是不争。

It is a matter of national importance.

You need to think long and hard before you decide on a date.

Who knows the general at this time, drinking and carousing is enjoying. 

Regardless of these casual words: next year can return today

需要深思熟虑后，才能定夺好日期。

谁知此时的将军，饮酒作乐正有兴。

哪顾这些随口说：明年今日可回之。

When people are angry, they don't argue, and a gentleman's demeanor is very human.

The way of benefiting but not harming heaven, the way of saints is not contested.

Laozi once said to help everything, not to fight with everything. 

People live for a lifetime, the highest realm is not to fight.

三国时期乱纷纷，连年纷争战不停。

诸葛孔明因病重，想与司马决雌雄。

司马坚守不出战，以逸待劳在兵营。

面对孔明的挑衅，按兵不动稳如神。

The period of The Three Kingdoms was chaotic, with continuous disputes and wars.

Zhuge Kongming because of serious illness, want to fight with Sima.

Sima stood his ground and waited in the barracks. 

In the face of Kong Ming's provocation, he stood still like a god.

日子一天天过去，孔明身体无法等。

他派使者给司马，送去礼物女人服。

说他按兵不应战，就像妇女般胆怯。

怒不形色司马懿，当着使者穿女服。

As the days passed, Kong Ming's body could not wait.

He sent messengers to Sima with gifts of women's clothes.

He said he wouldn't fight, like a woman.

Sima Yi, not angry, dressed in female clothes in front of the emissary.

笑着说道这衣裳，如此美丽真不俗。

如今天冷我穿着，十分合身真舒服。

感谢丞相的好意，望他身体早康复。

司马受侮而不怒，直到孔明命呜呼。

She smiled and said that the dress was so beautiful.

If it's cold today, I'm wearing it. It fits me very well.

I thank the Prime Minister for his kindness and hope that he will recover soon. 

Sima was insulted and not angry until Kong Ming's life whimpered.

善战之人激不怒，善柔之人不辩论。

善胜之人不强争，稳如泰山大事成。

不会一味强争夺，轻重缓急衡量清。

不因愤怒而冲动，失去理智乱性情。

A man who is good at war is not angry, and a man who is gentle is not argumentative.

A man who is good at winning is not strong enough to fight.

They don't just fight over it. They weigh their priorities.

Don't be impulsive because of anger, lose reason and temper.

人生若是太执拗，处处锱铢必计较。

争得面红又耳赤，只会自己多烦恼。

因为无论争什么，都是自己遭损耗。

打破平静的生活，失去和谐与美好。

If life is too stubborn, everything will be haggle.

Getting a red face and a red ear will only worry you.

Because no matter what to fight for, it is their own loss.

Break the peace of life, lose harmony and beauty.

争论无休又无止，影响健康的身体。

其实争得的越多，同时更多也失去。

争强斗狠何足奇，无非只可赢一时。

为人不争人谦和，那样才能赢一世。

Arguments go on and on, affecting a healthy body.

In fact, the more you win, the more you lose.

There is nothing strange about fighting hard, but you can only win for a while. 

Don't fight for humility, that can win a lifetime.
