A General Theory of Institutional Change[《制度变迁的广义理论》]的hardcover已经售罄，Routledge将在2013年3月左右推出该书的paperback。Routledge说很惊讶说这本书买的这么好（其实，也就是250本左右）。paperback的印数应该会多一些。

但对我个人来说，这一点都不奇怪：它是我目前最重要的作品，因为它涉及社会科学的主要分支中的最核心问题之一，而且我给出的理论我自认为非常的POWERFUL。我想，只有我的《论社会进化》"On Social Evolution"才有可能超过这本书的重要，因为"On Social Evolution"将第一次完善地阐述1）什么是社会进化（作为一个现象）？2）什么是社会进化范式？而《论社会进化》也和《制度变迁的广义理论》一样，面向所有的社会科学家。

在这里，我想回应一下徐进兄对我第一本书的出版社的评价。我认为， 归根结底，书还是要看质量。好的大学出版社固然声誉更好而且确实总体质量要比商业出版社要高（二流的大学出版社其实恐怕还比如一流的商业出版社），但是，只要在一流的商业出版社出版了，好的作品最后会获得承认【是金子总会要闪光的么】。出版社只是一个符号和渠道（当然，不能太差）。

另外，出版专著有很多偶然性：一般的专著都是一个或最多两个审阅者，其中一个说不行恐怕就难了。【我显然知道我的第一本书不如后来的这两本重要，但是我的书显然比Charles Glaser在Princeton 2010出版的Rational Theory of International Politics要好很多。我猜Princeton拒绝我的第一本书的一个原因之一就是它们已经决定要出Glaser的书了。】
