Fruits and Vegetables

1.                     Do you like to eat fruit(s) and vegetables?

Yes, I do. Because they are very fresh/healthy/tasty.  / They are very good for you.

Yes, I do, especially vegetables.

 

2.                     What fruit(s) (and /or vegetables) do you especially like to eat?

I think I like apples most, because apples are very tasty.

Vegies=vegetables蔬菜: cabbige, cucumber, letuce, curret, celery

Fruits水果: watermelon, apples, oranges, bananas, cherry, grapes

3.                     Did you like to eat vegetables when you were a child?

No, I didn’t. I didn’t like any vegetables.

When I was a child, I only liked meat/snacks.

No, not really….

 

一般疑问句是以do/be开头的问句。Do/be的形式有多种,包括: do, did, does, is, are, will, was, were

日常生活中(不是考试中):

I only liked tomatoes and apples.

No, I didn’t. I like all fruits and veggies now.

Yes, it is. It is very easy because I live close to a shopping centre / fruit and vege shop. 

 

8.                     What are the benefits of eating fresh fruit (or, fresh fruits and vegetables)? 

A lot.

Tasty and healthy.

On the one hand, it’s very tasty. On the other hand, it’s very healthy.

Personally, I think fruits are good for your health.

 

9.                     How much fruit and vegetables do you think a person needs to stay healthy?

As much as possible.

2 fruits and 1 kilo of veggies.

Well, let me think.. maybe 2 fruits and half a kilo veggie are enough.

Well I think, as much as you can.

 

10.                 (In China,) is there much difference between the fruits and vegetables that people eat today and what they used to eat in the past?

Fruits and veggies today are often/sometimes polluted.

Fruits and veggies today have lots of ‘chemicals.

1.                        Do you know how to make (prepare) a meal?

No, I don’t. Because I usually don’t cook at home. My wife cooks for me.

Yes, I do. I like cooking.

 

2.                        How well do you cook?

To be honest with you, I am not very good.

As a matter of fact, I am a very good cook.

 

3.                        Who usually does the cooking in your family (or, in your home)? 

Of course my wife. Because I am usually very busy with my work.

 

4.                        What's your favourite dish? *

My favourite dish is chilly muscle / steamed fish / dumplings / fried noodles / hot pot.

 

5.                        Would you like to try any food that you have never eaten before?

Yes, I would. I like trying new food.

 

6.                        Do you usually eat at home or do you usually eat away from home (= "eat out")?

I usually eat at home. Because it saves money. / Because it is cheaper. / Because my wife is a good cook.

I like to cook steamed fish / hot pot / stir-fried rice / fried rice.

 

8.                        When did you learn how to cook? 

I learned how to cook when I was 20 years old.

When I was a student.

I learned cooking 20 years ago.

Yes, I did. I learned cooking from my mum.

I learned from my mum.

Yes, I think so. Because everyone should be independent.

No, I don’t think so. This will waste students’ time in school.

Yes, I can. Because my wife is going back to China for holiday. I will have to cook.

I usually eat a lot of rice and vegetables.

2.                        If you had children, what foods would you recommend they eat? 

I would recom’mend they eat lots of fruits and vegetables.

Well, I think fruits and vegetables. Because they are very good for them.

3.                        Do you think it's good to (often) take children to restaurants?

No, I don’t think so. Because foods in restaurants are not very healthy. (are not good for their health.)

Some customers like salty food.

Meal > dishes, drinks, rice, dessert, soup

 

Old food is smelly (adj.). / Old food smells (v.).

Your cooking smells (v.) good/nice/delicious.

Your dishes have good smell (n.).

 

感官动词:= be   be + adj.

Smell 闻起来 + adj.: smells good.

Taste 吃起来: tastes nice.

Look 看起来: looks beautiful. Looks expensive.

Sound 听起来: The story sounds scary/terrible. He sounds very angry.

Feel 感觉。。: This feels nice/smooth.  The weather feels nice.

普通动词:= do   do + adv.

He runs fast.

He is injured badly.
