plunder,pillage,rob和loot的区别是什么?

loot:侧重于表示洗劫,劫掠一空的意思
pillage:侧重于表示劫掠的动作
rob:强盗式的抢劫行为
plunder:除了表示抢劫,劫掠之外,也可以作为名词,表示劫掠品的意思。

(1)loot:
  •  1.  V-T/V-I If people loot, or loot stores or houses, they steal things from them, for example, during a war or riot. (战争或暴乱时) 抢劫 (商店或房屋)

    例:

    The trouble began when gangs began breaking windows and looting shops.

    骚乱起始时,歹徒们就开始砸橱窗、抢商店。

  • 2.N-UNCOUNT 抢劫 looting

    例:

    In the country's largest cities there has been rioting and looting.

    在这个国家的大城市里一直都有暴乱和抢劫事件发生。

  • 3.V-T If someone loots things, they steal them, for example, during a war or riot. (战争或暴乱时) 掠夺

    例:

    The town has been plagued by armed thugs who have looted food supplies and terrorized the population.

    小镇一直受到武装暴徒的侵扰,他们掠夺食物,恐吓民众。


(2)pillage:

pillage /ˈpɪlɪdʒ/  (pillaging,pillaged,pillages)

  • 1.V-T If a group of people pillage a place, they steal property from it using violent methods. 掠夺

    例:

    Soldiers went on a rampage, pillaging stores and shooting.

    士兵狂暴地掠夺商店,不停地扫射。

  • 2.N-UNCOUNT Pillage is also a noun. 掠夺

    例:

    There were no signs of violence or pillage.

    没有暴力和掠夺的迹象。

  • 3.N-UNCOUNT pillaging

    例:

    ...pillaging by people looking for something to eat.

    ...被觅食的人一扫而空。


(3)rob

rob /rɒb/  CET4 TEM4 (robbing,robbed,robs)

  • 1.V-T If someone is robbed, they have money or property stolen from them. 盗窃; 抢劫

    例:

    Mrs. Yacoub was robbed of her designer watch at her Westchester home.

    雅各布夫人的名牌手表在她威斯特切斯特的家中被人盗走了。

  • 2.V-T If someone is robbed of something that they deserve, have, or need, it is taken away from them. 抢走

    例:

    When Miles Davis died jazz was robbed of its most distinctive voice.

    当迈尔斯•戴维斯去世时,爵士乐里最具特色的声音也被夺走了。


(4)plunder:

plunder /ˈplʌndə/  CET6+ TEM4 (plundering,plundered,plunders)

  • 1.V-T If someone plunders a place or plunders things from a place, they steal things from it. 掠夺

    例:

    He plundered the palaces and ransacked the treasuries.

    他洗劫了各个宫殿,将那些财宝掠夺一空。

    She faces charges of helping to plunder her country's treasury of billions of dollars.

    她面临协从窃取国库中数十亿美元的指控。

  • 2.N-UNCOUNT Plunder is also a noun. 掠夺

    例:

    ...a guerrilla group infamous for torture and plunder.

    …一支以酷刑和掠夺而臭名昭著的游击队。
