Download and install the utility program in accordance with
the manufacturer's recommendations.
If the software requires a license, one must be obtained. Symantec does not provide such a license.
Once installed, launch Process Explorer and follow the procedure listed below:
1. Expand System Idle Process (Figure 1)
2. Select and highlight System (Figure 1); the bottom half of the screen will become populated with a list of all the processes that are running under the System account.

3. Sort the Name field by name and scroll down to the entries that start with \Device\VSPSnapshot0\_vxfiVspCacheFile_1.tmp.
Note: Depending on the number of disk drives on the system, there could be more then one mapping in the list that uses the same naming convention (Figure 2).
4. Highlight the first\Device\VSPSnapshot0\_vxfiVspCacheFile_1.tmp
5. Right-click and select Close Handle

6. Next, highlight the associated system handle that physically shows the drive letter association.
Please note, in step 3 the file \Device\VSPSnapshot0 was selected and normally this will map to the first volume in the backup selection C:\_vxfiVspCacheFile_1.tmp.

Note: Once a handle has been closed, the system may become unresponsive for a short period of time. This most likely is due to the temporary cache being released back to the system.
7. Once the Close Handle option is selected from the dropdown menu, delete the associated TMP file which will exist at the root of the drive in question (in this example, the C:\ drive).
