在fit, suit, match这三个词中，首先我们可以将其分为两组，一组是fit和suit，它们的意思是“合适”；另一组则是match，其意为“相配”。下面我们来看看它们的区别及用法特点。

一、fit与suit的用法区别

两者都可表示“适合”或“合适”，但fit主要是指尺寸、大小、形状等方面的适合。如：

Her coat fits (her) perfectly. 她的大衣很合身。

The key doesn’t fit the lock. 这把钥匙打不开这把锁。

而suit 则主要指款式或花色等方面的适合。如：

Do you think that this style suits me?

你觉得这种款式适合我穿吗?

Red and black are colours that suit me very well.

红色和黑色都是适合我穿的颜色。

比较并体会下面两个句子：

This dress doesn’t fit me. Have you got a larger size?

二、match的用法特点

match主要表示“与……相配或相称”。如：

另外，它还可以表示“使……相配”“使……相称”。如：

I’m trying to match this yellow wool; do you have anything like it?

match有时还可用作不及物动词，表示“相配”“相称”。如：

The curtains and paint don’t match. 窗帘和油漆颜色不协调

These shoes do not match; one is large and the other is small.
