赵少昂的绘画师承高其峰，兼取诸家之长，深得岭南画精髓，主张“融会古今，折衷中外”的艺术宗旨。

早期画风着重于写生的真实感，勾线、着色甚为洒脱工致；晚年则“老而愈妙”由博返约，强调神韵而能于奔

放、粗狂之中见其精细之处。作品色彩丰富名丽、格调新颖、意境独特，特别注重对物象的仔细观察和对大自然

生命的把握，强调准确概括事物的形神。同时，充分发挥书法用笔的表现力，笔墨奇肆，独具风格。徐悲鸿曾题

诗赞誉赵少昂：“画派天南有继人，赵君花鸟实传神，秋风塞上老骑客，烂漫春光艳羡深。”
