这几年随着中国学生申请美国私立中学的人数的增多，许多学生通过各种培训，取得了十分“理想”的成绩。美国的私立中学在录取学生的时候，越来越重视面试和学生的写作能力。面试可以到美国的学校面试，也可以通过Skype面试。从2013年开始，美国的许多学校，不仅要求到学校面试的学生当场写一篇文章，对通过Skype面试的学生，也要求学生在视频面试时，当场写一篇文章，而且视频面试的过程，全程录像。下面是一所美国的私立中学对通过Skype面试的学生说明的部分内容：

1.)   The admission officer is often able to see what you are doing on the computer, such as IM’ing with friends, checking email, looking at parents, etc.  Please be focused and attentive throughout the entire interview.

2.)   Please do not seek help from your parent(s) or consultant during the interview. 

a.      Your parent(s) and/or consultant should not be in the room with you during the interview. 

3.)   Look at the camera, not the screen, when speaking to the admission officer.

4.)   The interview will conclude with an essay question that you will need to type a response to. 

5.)   The Skype interview will be recorded and a screen shot picture will be taken.

Writing Sample:

     A writing sample is required at the conclusion of your interview.  You will be asked to spend 10-15 minutes answering an essay question that is provided by the admission officer.  Your response should be entered in the text box on Skype.

   2013年许多取得TOEFL和SSAT高分的学生美国得到理想的学校的录取。竞争的激烈是一个原因。另外一个原因是学生的英语水平和标准化考试的成绩不匹配。这其中主要表现在三个方面

   1. SSAT英文的essay写的比较差，和申请提交的essay很不匹配，明显是别人代笔。

   2. 面试的表现不好，包括口语和对问题的回答。

   3. 面试时的文章写得更差，这更反映学生的英文水平。

   ，还有其它一些原因，比如有些学生英文的书写比较差，以致SSAT的作文，阅卷的老师和学校的招生办无法认清。还有的学生不会英文打字，或者速度太慢，通过Skype面试写文章时，手忙脚乱。

   2013年美国私立中学的申请已经基本结束。2014年的申请已经开始。一点建议是，在学生积极准备TOEFL和SSAT考试的同时，要注重英文水平的提高，特别是写作和口语。
