use a Smart Lid
Have you ever burned your lips by drinking very hot coffee? Then
you well understand the value of a “Smart Lid” cup of coffee.
This lid fits onto a typical disposable cup that you get at
airports and other drinks outlets. The lid is manufactured with a
temperature-sensitive additive. Before the lid is put onto the cup,
it is coffee-colored. When the lid heats up, the additive changes
color and the lid turns red: the user is warned to be careful of
the hot liquid. When the drink cools, the color of the lid changes
back to brown.
The Smart Lid has another excellent feature.
When it is put on correctly, there is a complete brown ring around
the lid. If the lid is not put on correctly, this ring is
incomplete. This gives the user an additional warning that the hot
liquid could spill out of the cup.
