The Role of a Teacher in a Student’s Life

1. [Topic: Tell the audience what you’re going to talk about ] Hello, everyone! I’d like to share with you my thoughts on the role of a teacher in a student’s life. From my experience, a teacher is a parent and a friend, a mentor and a coach.

2. [Supporting details: Give some examples] This is my teacher Arlene. When I was a college student, she tutored me in English speaking contests and helped me to be a better speaker. She is my coach. She is also like a loving parent who cooked delicious meals and bought a lot of tasty snacks for us students. When I didn’t know how to get along with my roommates, I always got good advice and solutions from her. We chatted, watched movies on Fridays and even went shopping together. She’s my friend in need. What’s more, she is my mentor who always encourages me to be a better person, and guides me to discover the meaning of my life and the destination of my future.

3. [Make a conclusion with personal opinions] Now I am a teacher. I hope I could be a good teacher who can make a difference in my students’ life as Arlene does in mine.
