杨市镇隶属无锡市惠山区，位于无锡市西部，惠山西北，与常州武进市接壤，离无锡市区20公里，新长铁路在镇东穿过，是全国著名的淡水珍珠养殖地和水蜜桃盛产地。其实杨市应该叫杨墅,据说是古代一位姓杨的大官告老还乡后在此定居，建有大庄园别墅，故名杨墅。杨市老街在杨墅园大街以东，人民东路，沿河而建，保存的较为完好。
