Occupy Medicine, it is a book provided to us by Dr. Bortz, who is was Former President of the American Geriatrics Society, Co-Chairman of the AMA’s Task Force on AGING AND Clinical Professor of Medicine at Stanford.

In the book, Dr. Bortz called for a revolution to save American health care and said “Ours (US health care system) is not a health-care system, it is a disease-care system. It is a system in which all resources are consumed by repair. Repair is a fiscal and scientific black hole with an inverse relationship between cost and benefit. "

Dr. Bortz said in his book “we must assume individual responsibility. This is of paramount importance. Each of us owns our health, we can’t download it on government or doctors or pills. The solutions to eradicate health illiteracy is a massive campaign, we need health in our classrooms and homes, not in expensive body shops.”

Dr. Bortz also said in his book "Medicine wants you to be sick. The sicker you are, the more the medical corporation banks. It doesn't want you to be well and healthy. It doesn't want you to watch your diet and exercise and practice prevention. Prevention means healthy people. Healthy people don't need pill and procedures and hospitalizations and surgeries. Healthy people don't have diabetws and heart disease. So healthy people don't pay big medical bills. And without those big bills Big Medicine can't feed itself."

At last, Dr. Bortz said "The medical Monster needs to feed. On you. It's not a pretty picture, but it's the Truth."
