It is my pleasure to recommend xxx to you, as he is one of the outstanding graduates in our school. He has passed the college entrance exams and is now seeking an opportunity to start his further study in the HKU.

As his principal, I strongly support his aspiration to further his education at HKU. In years of cooperation with HUK, we understand that the University of Hong Kong is an excellent institution for advanced learning not only because of your world-class faculty, beautiful campus, excellent lab facilities, but because your modern educational philosophy commands my unreserved respect and admiration. I believe xxx will surely have a brighter future should he be successful in making his way to the HKU.

I’ve been familiar with this young man since Grade One in high school. Once I noticed a big boy who walked in the campus with a pair of walking sticks. Later I know who he was. He impressed me even further after I learned that he insisted coming to school despite his suffering a badly injured ankle during an exercise. This event alone convinced me he must be a boy of determination and a character of perseverance! Later I talked to him quite many times and start to learn more about this special student.

He has been a class monitor for three years. So I had chances to meet him on campus when teacher and student leader meetings were held. I found a strong sense of responsibility in this kid. In our school, first year students are required to participate in a “social practice” ,a special assignment for those newly enrolled, which often involved a group trip to other provinces. As you can imagine, this has always been a big challenge for both teachers and students , because of detailed arrangement for the 6-day travel. He helped us collecting all the necessary fees… The result couldn’t be better: all the students came safely back to school. I believe only a class monitor with a strong sense of responsibility and excellent leadership skill could have handled this challenging task so well! All the students enjoyed their trip very much.

Being a principal in charge of teaching and learning, I keep a close eye on student performances through some statistics or tutor appraisals. Scored a total of xxx in this year’s college entrance exams, his performance might not sound that much impressive, considering some of his peers who have managed to score somewhere in the neighborhood of xxx. But I would like to emphasize that the total score did not tell the whole story about this kid. His performance in some subjects is superb: English 142, science 150! And what’s more, he is making progress all the time! In the last year of his high school, he once ranked number ONE in Chinese, and number Four in English. He has proved he has the potential to be excellent! I also heard from his tutor, Mr. Wang, about his hard working attitude. Teachers in charge of his class agreed that xxx is an excellent student. So I have good reasons to believe in xxx's ability and potential. He has been a good student, and will prove he should be the few on the very top.
