Lesson 18 Maddy the Monster

一、教材分析  

Maddy the Monster”是冀教版小学英语四年级第三单元的一节故事课,第三单元的主题是“All about me, 本单元围绕年龄、生日、身高、住址、上学方式及喜欢做的事情,与学生生活紧密联系,真正体现了语言的交际功能,为培养学生运用英语进行英语交流打下良好的基础。本节故事课围绕两个主人公MaddyAnna的年龄、身高、住址等来创设情境,锻炼学生的阅读能力和口语交际能力  

二、学生分析  

小学生活泼好动,具有很强的模仿力和求知欲,他们想象力丰富,喜欢幻想,对事物充满好奇,乐于参加表演,喜欢得到别人尤其是老师的肯定。四年级的学生通过一年半的英语的入门学习,已经积累了一定数量的词汇和语句,可以完成简单的日常对话,这就为四年级英语的学习奠定了一定的基础。因此在本次教学中要加强对学生的听说读写训练,提高学生的创新能力和合作能力,着重培养学生的语言交际能力,加强英语口语训练。 

三、教学目标  

1)知识目标:  

复习本单元重要句型  

 How old are you  

  Are you short or tall?  

  Where do you live?   

  How do you go to school?   

  What do you like to do?  

2)能力目标  

a. 学生能够听懂和理解这个故事。  

.学生能够就故事进行提问和回答。  

.学生能够根据图片和图表复述这个简单的故事。  

3)情感、态度、价值观  

通过学习本课故事,激发学生读英语小故事的兴趣,增强给他人讲英语故事的自信心。  

四、教学重难点  

重点: a .复习本单元重要句型.  

b .通过读故事,提高学生的阅读及听力理解能力,培养英语学习的兴趣  

难点:听懂并理解故事内容,并能运用所学知识进行口语交际。  

五、教具准备  

多媒体,录音机 ,磁带,MaddyAnna的头饰。 

六、教学过程

Step1 Warming up 1分钟)

Greeting

T: Hello , boys and girls .

S: Hello , teacher .

T: Nice to meet you !

S: Nice to meet you , too ! 

设计意图:通过简单的师生问候,给学生营造轻松愉快的英语学习氛围,拉近师生的距离。

Step 2 Review3分钟)

T: Before our class , let’s have a race . I ask , you answer . If you can , please say it out quickly !

  How do you go to school?   

  What do you like to do?

设计意图:通过竞赛的方式复习本单元的重点句型,为新故事的展开做铺垫。

Step 3 Presentation(20分钟 )

Pre-reading: 1分钟)

谈话导入  

设计意图:通过free talk让学生快速进入到英语学习的氛围当中。  

T: Hello, boys and girls. We have many friends this term . They are Danny, Jenny, LiMing , Steven, Kim, Little Zeke and Emma. Do you like them? Today, we will meet a new friend. Her name is Maddy.(出示Maddy的图片) Do you want to know more about Maddy ? Now let watch the flash .

While-reading 

1. 观看flash动画,让学生整体感知故事。 

老师先简单介绍Maddy,学生通过看动画视频,获得有关Maddy的知识。  

T: This is Maddy. Who can tell me something about Maddy ? What do you hear ?

S1: She is a monster. 

S2: Her friend is Anna. 

S3: …… 

T: OK ! Very good ! You may think that  the monster is bad. But Maddy is kindhearted. Does she live with her family? Now read by yourselves , then answer the question .  

2. 自读课文,回答问题

通过表格对比两个人物的年龄及身高,讲授older than , taller than 的意义及用法,并进行简单的句型练习。

(设计意图:在了解故事大概内容后,完成表格,帮助学生更准确、详细的了解人物的信息。)

Step 4 Consolidation 15分钟)

1.教师出示图片和参考句型,简要复述故事,之后让学生模仿复述故事。

参考句型:

Maddy is a monster . She is _________metres tall . She is _________ years old . She goes to school _________. She lives in ______________.

Anna is a _____. She is _________metres tall . She is _________ years old . She goes to school _________. She lives in ______________.

设计意图:通过图表简述故事,更好地帮助学生理解故事,锻炼学生的语言组织能力。

2.       对话表演。

Maddy: Hello , I’m Maddy !

Anna: Hello , I’m Anna! I’m eleven years old . How old are you?

Maddy: I’m ninety –nine years old. Where do you live?

Anna: I live in a house on Park Road . What about you ?

Maddy: I live in a big house . How tall are you ?

Anna: I’m 1.5 metres tall . What about you ?

Maddy: I’m 5 metres tall . Nice to meet you .

Anna: Nice to meet you,too .

设计意图:通过头饰对话表演,帮助学生更好地理解故事内容,巩固本课的重点句型,锻炼孩子的语言能力和表演能力。

3.MaddyAnna的头饰采访同学。

(设计意图:通过不同角色,是学生不仅会回答问题,更会问问题,锻炼了学生的口语交际能力和语言的运用能力。)

Step 5 Homework1分钟)

1.      Tell the story to your parents or friends .

2.      Act out the story .
