一天，毛利小五郎正在家里喝着酒，突然门铃响了。小兰前去开门，进来的，竟然是当红女歌星，小五郎的偶像冲野洋子！冲野洋子说，她感觉自己被人跟踪了，而且回家后，家具的位置也总是发生变化，这让她心里紧张害怕。毛利小五郎决定查出是谁这么骚扰冲野洋子，而通过这次事件，他认识了冲野洋子的朋友山岸荣。

跟着冲野洋子和山岸荣，毛利小五郎等人来到冲野家。当冲野洋子开门后，大家发现了惊奇的一幕，有一个男人死在了冲野家！目暮警官闻讯赶到，大家在卧室里搜查起来。柯南发现尸体周围有许多小冰渣，家具乱乱的，却只有一条椅子摆放整齐，卧室温度也较高，山岸荣故意跌倒从被害人手里拿走了什么。那东西掉了之后，柯南连忙跑过去捡了起来，原来是根头发，他不由的产生了怀疑。此时，他发现沙发下有一枚耳环，便拉着目暮十三去看，大家都不相信这个小孩，理都不理他，他无奈只好用阿笠博士新发明的蝴蝶结型变声器告诉大家。经确认，这枚耳环是冲野洋子的好朋友池泽优子的，而池泽优子正在为电视台只选上洋子没选上她而生气。警方问起来，她吼道自己根本没来过这里，不可能会杀人！说完就往厕所走去，柯南发现池泽优子和冲野洋子的背影很像，或许这跟案情有什么联系。出来后的池泽优子，顺手抓起桌子上的打火机点燃了烟，柯南一把夺过打火机问：“打火机的形状好奇特啊！你怎么知道打火机的位置，你不是第一次来这里吗？”池泽优子愣了，忙解释朋友家也有相同的打火机，小五郎坚决认定池泽优子就是凶手。

这时，警员走过来，说了被害者的名字，冲野洋子称自己认识他，山岸荣不想让洋子说出那个人是谁，但洋子不能不说，原来，被害人是洋子大学时的男友，并且是他提出了分手！随着案情的发展，池泽优子也不得不承认，自己确实不是第一次来，她经常去洋子的房间，有一次突然被身后的一个男人扑到，失落了耳环。毛利小五郎又依靠这个再一次认定池泽优子便是凶手。柯南仔细查看情况，终于明白了凶手是谁。其实，凶手就是被害人自己！他提出分手后想向洋子承认事实，便抱住了和洋子身影相似的池泽小姐，而池泽小姐挣脱之后，他的心灰意冷化为仇恨，为了报仇他自杀在洋子房间里。洋子争辩道：“是他先提出分手的！”山岸荣这时支支唔唔的说是自己拜托他和洋子分手的！

One day, the bell rang when Mouri Kogorou was drinking. Ran opened the door and a famous singer also Kogorou’s favorite—Yoko Okino came in. She said she felt being followed, and the furnitures were moved, she was so scared. Mouri decided to find out the one harassed her. He knew Yoko’s friend Ei Yamagishi through this case.

They came to Yoko’s house, when she opened the door, they saw a man died here. Juuzou Megure got here and we started to search in the bedroom. I found there were many little ice crumbs around the carcass. The furnitures were disordered except a chair. The temperature was high. Ei Yamagishi fell down purposely and got something out of the carcass’s hand. When it fell on the ground, I found it was a hair. I started to suspect. At this time, I found there was an earring under the sofa, I tried to pull Juuzou Megure to see, but he didn’t believe me. I had no choice but used the bowknot-like voice changer. This earring belonged to Yoko’s friend Yuuko Ikesawa. Yuuko was angry for the TV station choosing Yoko instead of her. She yelled that she never came here before and couldn’t be the murderer when the police asked her, and went to the toilet. I though her looked like Yoko from behind, this might be a clue. When she was out, she used the lighter on the desk to light a cigarette without a hitch. The lighter’s shape was very strange and I realized she was not the first time here.

The police told the carcass’s name, Yoko said she knew him. Ei Yamagishi wanted to stop her but failed. He was her boy friend in the college, and he broke up with her. Yuuko admitted that she was not the first time here. She often went to Yoko’s house and was plunged down by a man from the back once and lost her earring. Mouri though Yuuko was the murderer but I had knew who the killer really was, it was the carcass himself. After he brought up breaking up, he wanted to tell Yoko the truth he did that because Ei Yamagishi asked him to. So he gripped Yuuko he though was Yoko. After she broke away, he was so upset and suicided in this room using the chair and a icepick.
