托马斯 齐宾代尔ThomasChippendale（1718-1779），又译作：齐本德尔 、齐彭代尔，是18世纪享誉世界的英国家具设计巨匠。在欧洲，他的名字甚至等同于最高家具制作工艺的代名词。其影响力甚至波及美国、意大利、西班牙等国。他的家具设计更成为欧洲经典家具史不可或缺的经典样式。齐宾代尔还促进了中国样式家具在欧洲世界的流行，当时，他精心为英国皇室设计了一套极具中国韵味的宫廷家具，在英国甚至整个欧洲造成了极其强烈的反响，自此带有中国风情的家具开始深入人心。因为齐宾代尔对欧洲家具的突出贡献，后人尊称他为“欧洲家具之父”。http://www.rzps.cn/uploads/allimg/140221/1-140221110056.jpg

　 1754年，他的设计风格多变，其中包含了洛可可、新古典主义等不同风格的家具样式。在他出版的一本名叫《绅士与橱柜制作者指南》中，便主要展示了他极具洛可可风格的产品样式。在日渐兴起的新古典主义装饰风格盛行的时候，他采纳了建筑师亚当提供的设计图，又演绎出带有欧式古典风格气质的产品。http://www.rzps.cn/uploads/allimg/140221/1-140221110102.jpg   《绅士与橱柜制作者指南》应用精致的铜板雕刻印刷，共计家具162件，装饰41件，细部图纸42件。我们会看到一些非常经典的传统英式家具造型，更会看到受到洛可可及中国风格的独特样式。如：球爪状脚、S形装饰、中式花窗及回纹装饰等样式。在当时，《绅士与橱柜制作者指南》风靡英国，成为家具设计师的必备圣经，甚至影响到美洲殖民地，一本齐氏的《绅士与橱柜制作者指南》几乎成为了时尚品味的向导，特别是“中国风格”在一个上流阶层的豪宅之内，这些精致、轻便、装饰优雅的“齐宾代尔式”成为了升华整个室内空间的重要角色。
