There's one question lingering on in my mind during the last few bed-ridden days.

---Why did Spaniard wiped out the civilization of Aztec and Inca?

The straight answer of course is that Spanish conquerers were only interested in the gold they could loiter from the primative cultures. Once the gold egg is retrieved, the uselessly hen should be obsolete without a doubt.To them, all these stinky and dark skinned Aztec and Inca people only presented fatuity and barbarism. Who would kill a thousand people every week for sacrifice in order to satiate the majestic gods? Therefore, these backward people deserved their fate.

Ironiclly, these Spanish who were proud of their advancement in  development, were the ones who displayed extreme barbarian cruelty.

I am not a fan of war. Many a time when I come across articles hyper about starting a war between  China and Japan or China and the US, I can't help but ask "Dude, do you actually know what a war means to the people, everyday people like you and me?"

That sent me questioning the human nature, just like our Chinese ancenstors once did over and over again. "Good and Evil" somehow is not the pair of adjectives I am interested in using as they define everything just in black and white, while the whole world doesn't roll well with this oversimplified vision.

As we are human beings, we carry with ourselves all the surviving instincts and are quite good at acquiring new knowledge and skills to further improve our chance of survival. Somehow, as we accumulate more and more technology, we are increasing our chance of extinguish the whole planet, if we can't see and deal with our nature correctly.

We'd love to believe that we are all made for good causes. We'd love to believe that we are capable of handling the multitude of our inner urges for power, fame and money. We'd love to believe that whenever we are declaring a serious stand on something, we have justice on our side, or at least we will make it sound so on newspapers and on TV screens.

We human beings obviously are fairly resourcesful in justifying everything, including our own belligerent nature. It's not a shame to admit that we are driven by our surviving instincts. But we can not, not after wearing clothes and shoes for hundreds of years, not when we are claiming that we are the best selection of the nature, not after we've fostered this great victim psychology and righteousness inside ourselves.

Aha, let's be warlike. Smell the blood? So fresh and so full of red. Let's resume the old human sacrifice under the modern appearance. Only by exerting ourselves could we be heard. Only by cutting off dialogues and diplomacy could we be respected. Only by building more war vessels could we be deemed as the symbol of peace.
