How should I introduce Ruby Lin? Who doesn't know this successful artiste whose career is at its prime? Especially since she recently represented China at the 2010 Seoul International Drama Awards and won the Netizens’Popularity Award with such grace and poise. 

 

This honour isn't just attributed to Ruby's many years of hard work; it also comes from the support and love of the public who give her the greatest comfort and encouragement. Earlier, Auntie Qiong Yao mentioned that if there was a word that could represent Chinese culture, she'd choose ‘love'. 

 

While she chooses ‘love’to describe Chinese culture, I am of the opinion that the word that represents Ruby Lin best is the word ‘faithfulness'. From the past to the present, the Ruby Lin that I know has never changed her principles and her ‘insistence’of faithfulness towards people and her duties. 

 

And so, she carries ‘love’and ‘faithfulness’into Xia Yu He's world, and in doing so, adds a new page to the New Huan Zhu Ge Ge. She truly is someone worthy of our praise and the sincerest female artiste who makes us proud.

秦岚让人觉得有一股清雅的高贵，又有一种令人无法忽视的时尚感，她越发成熟所散发出的韵味是充满智慧的知性美，若有花儿可以象征秦岚，想必「茉莉花」最适合她。因为茉莉花代表着纯洁、真挚和优雅，而「优雅」一直是秦岚多年来内心不断蕴化的一种内涵，她和成熟的茉莉花一样，正以浓郁清新的花香，为自己的演艺人生，散发着光彩和芳香。＜新还珠格格＞中的雪吟，亦如茉莉花的贞洁、忠烈，于是谱写了小燕子和箫剑兄妹的颠沛流离，这样的角色由秦岚饰演，令人非常期待。

 

Qin Lan gives the impression of having a pure elegance as well as a sense of modernism that is impossible to ignore. Her appeal lies in the fact that she possesses a cultured beauty full of intelligence.

 

If there was a flower that could serve as Qin Lan's emblem, the jasmine flower would be most suitable because it represents purity, genuineness, earnestness, and elegance. And elegance is something that has been evolving in Qin Lan's heart all this while.

 

Like a full-grown jasmine flower, she exudes brightness and fragrance for her film career through the clear and musky scent.

 

The New Huan Zhu Ge Ge's Xue Yin is as (EN)1 pure and faithful as the jasmine flower. Her actions led to the separation of Xiao Yan Zi and Xiao Jian. Such an [interesting] character is played by Qin Lan which makes us very excited. 

 

Editor's Note:  The writer uses “忠烈” (zhōng liè) to describe the character of Xue Yin.  This is often used to describe soldiers’loyal and heroic actions.  Similarly, Xue Yin is a warrior; she fights to protect her young children – Xiao Yan Zi and Xiao Jian.  She is “as pure as the jasmine flower” because she remains faithful to her husband.

张嘉倪像是在争议声中努力崛起的幽兰，看似柔弱温顺，其实内心有着一股令人意想不到的坚忍，艺人成名背后的艰辛她并没有少尝过，只是从「紫菱」之后的种种机会与洗练，更让她懂得如何面对困难和挫折，乃至于体会了「挫折给人力量」的道理。记得她曾讲述自己在地下通道听到一位盲人唱着：「不经历风雨怎能见彩虹，没有人能随随便便成功」，这是＜真心英雄＞的歌词，却是张嘉倪多年激励自己的一句座右铭，相信这句歌词同样可以带给后辈新人一样的体悟和激励。

 

Zhang JiaNi is like an orchid that sprouted amidst the conflicts and controversies. She looks fragile and docile but in her heart, lies an unimaginable sense of persistence. She has tasted the hardships of fame and celebrity.

 

The opportunities that came after (EN)1 [her role as] Zi Ling has only made her understand how to face these hardships and setbacks better as well as comprehend the meaning of the truth ‘setbacks strengthen one’.

 

I remember her saying how she once heard a blind man singing in an underground passageway, ‘Without the rain, how can one see the rainbow, no one can succeed easily.’ These words are the lyrics to True Hero but it has also been the golden saying that Zhang JiaNi uses to encourage herself.

 

We believe that these lyrics will bring the same perception and encouragement to the new generation of actors.

Chen HuiJuan as Fu Jin (Er Kang’s mother)

 

在旧版＜还珠格格＞尔康尔泰的母亲福晋，雍容的气度以及对紫薇的慈爱都令人印象深刻。在＜新还珠格格＞中剧组邀请了，曾获得「西南话剧节最佳女主角奖」的陈慧娟饰演福伦的福晋一角，而陈慧娟也期许此次正面形象的福晋演出，能一偿改变屏幕形象的宿愿。相信真实生活中平易近人、温婉亲切的陈慧娟，能给观众带来不一样气质的「福晋」风采。

注：福晋，来源于满语 fujin，意为贵妇或王妃。是清代对亲王、郡王及其儿子的妻子（正室）的封号。亲王、郡王之妾则称为侧福晋

 

In the original Huan Zhu Ge Ge, Er Kang and Er Tai's mother, the Fu Jin's generous temperament, forgiving heart and her motherly love for Zi Wei left deep impressions on viewers.

 

The New Huan Zhu Ge Ge production has invited a winner of the Southwest Theater Festival Best Actress Award, Chen HuiJuan to take on the role of Fu Jin.  The actress herself wishes to change her onscreen reputation with her portrayal of Fu Jin.

 

We believe Chen HuiJuan, who is rather down to earth, warm and easygoing in real life, will be able to bring a Fu Jin with a different quality to the audiences.

 

Writer's note: The words ‘福晋’originated from the Manchurian language, ‘fujin’ and is designated for women married to nobility or royal concubines. It is the title given to the first wives of kings, princes and lords during the Qing dynasty.

Zang JinSheng as Officer Liang

 

小燕子不知道是哪辈子没烧好香，居然会和梁大人的「梁子」结得那么大，最后还落入梁大人的手里，也不知＜新还珠格格＞中的新梁大人又会如何挟私怨来折磨新小燕子李晟，真是令人忧心不已啊！而这位新梁大人我们很荣幸邀请了在电影「赤壁」饰演张飞的臧金生。臧金生影视作品无数，不管善恶或是英雄、丑角，臧金生都能生动得诠释出角色的特质，让观众感受角色的灵魂。梁大人啊！看来您呲牙裂嘴、眼冒怒光，肯定和小燕子擦出不少的「火花」，要不您先喝口菊花茶，降降火气先？

 

Xiao Yan Zi must not have offered enough incense [to the gods] to have created a ridge so wide between Officer Liang and herself. And who knows how the new Officer Liang in the New Huan Zhu Ge Ge will use his personal grudges to mistreat and abuse the new Xiao Yan Zi, Li Sheng! Oh, how uneasy this makes us!

 

As for the actor chosen to play this character, we've been honoured to be able to invite Zang JinSheng, the actor who played Zhang Fei in the film Red Cliff.  Zang JinSheng's works are countless and yet no matter whether it is a good or evil character, a hero, or an ugly character, Zang JinSheng manages to bring to life every characteristic of the role and in doing so, he enables the audience to feel the spirit of each character.

 

Officer Liang! The way you've been grinding your teeth and the way your eyes seem to burn with an unbridled fury, Xiao Yan Zi must have raised your ire! Here, why don't you have a cup of chrysanthemum tea to ease your temper?

Yang FengYu as E Min

 

毕业于中央戏剧学院表演系的杨丰宇，有一个高挑的身材之外，更有一个阳刚而充满血性男子的气息。提到「血性男子」，突然想起香港林子祥有一首粤语歌「真的汉子」，其中有一段的歌词似乎很适合形容杨丰宇：「……同做个血性男儿，愿同到世间闯一次，强调靠我两手创动人故事，成败也不再犹豫，用我的真心真意，怀着斗志，向竞争的圈里追…」。许多演员在影视圈历练久了，大多会以戏剧当作人生的修练，杨丰宇就是一位生活、思想非常有禅意的一个人，一些禅意的体悟能加深杨丰宇对工作的热情，也更坚定他的斗志，开创属于自己的理想。＜新还珠格格＞的鄂敏--杨丰宇，期待大家更多的关注。

 

A Central Academy of Drama graduate who majored in performance, Yang FengYu not only has a lean and thin frame, but he also has a masculine demeanour and quality!

 

He's a hot blooded man! The phrase ‘hot-blooded’ man made me think of a Cantonese song of Hong Kong's George Lam, ‘The Real Hero’ and the lyrics suitably describe Yang FengYu, ‘...be a hot-blooded male, going forth into the world, insist on using my own two hands to create stories that move people, I'll not hesitate about success or failure, but I'll use my sincerity and my resilience to survive in the competition ring..’

 

After a long time in the filmmaking industry, many actors will think of drama as life's trials, Yang FengYu is a person whose lifestyle and thinking is rather meditative and contemplative.

 

These meditations increase Yang FengYu passion for his work, harden his spirit and construct his ideals.

 

The New Huan Zhu Ge Ge's E Min as played by Yang FengYu is worthy of everyone's attention.

王建新 飾 蒙古親王--齊克爾

Wang JianXin as the Mongolian ruler –Qi Ke'er

 

在乾隆时期，满蒙联姻是朝廷的重大政策之一，因此「西藏土司」在＜新还珠格格＞中改成了蒙古亲王，由王建新饰演。王建新是圈内资深的知名演员，演过无数的作品都令人印象深刻，尤其他幽默风趣的性格，更增添成熟型男的魅力，在他身边似乎很容易感染着他的开心和自在。且让我们一起期待＜新还珠格格＞蒙古亲王齐克尔的出场。

 

During Qianlong's reign, a Manchurian-Mongolian alliance through marriage was one important political strategy [to maintain peace] amongst others. Thus, in the New Huan Zhu Ge Ge, the Tibetan chieftain [in the original Huan Zhu Ge Ge], [Saiya's father] was changed to the Mongolian king who's played by Wang JianXin.

 

Wang JianXin is a renowned actor with years of experience in the filmmaking circle.

 

He's had numerous projects which have all left lasting impressions on the viewers and on top of that, his humorous, pleasant personality only adds to the mature man's appeal. One is easily infected by his contagious happiness, easygoing and carefree style.

 

Let us all wait together for the Mongolian ruler Qi Ke'er's appearance in the New Huan Zhu Ge Ge.

NiGe Mutu as Ali Hezhuo

 

尼格木图是一位非常有型的性格型演员，在他经历过的许多角色，大多饰演相当有份量的人物，从司令、将领、船长、公安局长等等，在他身上都能找到与角色贴切的领袖风范和气场。而在＜新还珠格格＞中，尼格木图将自身独特的异域气质，成功诠释了为回疆民族的和平，不得不牺牲爱女含香幸福的阿里和卓。苍天啊！实际上，阿里和卓也是一位充满无奈的父亲呀！

 

NiGe Mutu is a very stylistic actor. Many of the roles he's taken are characters who have a great deal of authority, from a commander to a general to a captain to a public security officer, he has the presence and air of a leader which is very close to the features of his characters.

 

In the New Huan Zhu Ge Ge, Nige Mutu shall use his foreign bearing that belongs to him alone to portray an Ali Hezhuo who has no choice but to sacrifice his beloved daughter, Han Xiang's happiness in exchange for peace for the Ughyur peoples. Heavens, at the heart of it all, Ali Hezhuo is really just a helpless father!

王鶴鳴 飾 莊師傅

Wang HeMing as Chef Zhuang

 

「庄师傅」一角由王鹤鸣饰演，是＜新还珠格格＞中的全新角色，掌管御膳房，和掌管御药房的常寿太医是一对冤家。＜新还珠格格＞为再创影视佳绩，对于许多角色的遴选，几乎是倾力和用心的寻找，而王鹤鸣不管是外型或气质，都和剧中这位有点傲气又有点小仁慈的庄师傅相当的贴切，是一位值得大家期待的新角色。王鹤鸣原名王鹏，毕业于中央戏剧学院表演系。参演戏剧经历丰富，近期在＜新三国演义＞与＜新红楼梦＞皆有杰出的表现。

 

The character of Chef Zhuang is played by Wang HeMing and is a new character in the New Huan Zhu Ge Ge who's in charge of the palace kitchens! He is constantly at loggerheads with the head physician, Chang Shou!

 

In order to create fine results onscreen, the New Huan Zhu Ge Ge production [crew] has searched earnestly for the right actors for these roles and Wang HeMing matches the slightly proud yet kind Chef Zhuang in both appearance and demeanour.

 

[Chef Zhuang] is a character worthy of everyone's anticipation. Wang HeMing's actual name is Wang Peng and he graduated from the Central Academy of Drama's performance school.

 

His TV experiences are rich as he often participates in them. His recent projects include New Three Kingdoms and the New Hong Lou Meng.
