今年,挂在里约热内卢(Rio de Janeiro)奥运获奖运动员胸前的奖牌将不同以往:巴西铸币厂为2016年夏奥会(Olympic Games)和残奥会( Paralympic Games)所设计的金牌、银牌和铜牌都是用再生材料制成。
奖牌上当然要有希腊胜利女神(Nike)和其他传统象征,但制作女神的银材料来自废弃的镜子、剩余的焊锡、甚至是X光板胶片。回收的瓶子也被转化为编织奖牌缎带的原料之一。
那么金牌中的金子呢?它是从无毒水银中提取的。
在2016年残奥会上,视障运动员可以听见他们的奖牌。残奥会的奖牌将首次含小钢球,摇动时,它们会发出分别代表金、银、铜奖牌的不同声音。
