Lars: Hey, Bill. What’s up?

Bill: Not much. How’s it going?

Lars: Can’t complain. This is my friend Yuri.

Yuri: Nice to meet you.

Bill: Nice to meet you too.

Lars: We’re going to the movies tonight. Do you want to go with us?

Bill: Sure. That sounds great!

词语解释

Hey是比“hello”更为随便的打招呼方式。

What’s up?(咋着?)是比“How’s it going?” (怎么样?)或“What’s new?”(新近怎样?)更为随便的询问方式。

Can’t complain(没什么可抱怨的)是对“How’s it going?” or “What’s up?”的一种常用回答方式,意思是答话人的生活近来都好。

Nice to meet you (幸会/高兴与你相识)用于与人首次会面。对方的回应是 nice to meet you too(彼此彼此/我也高兴与你相识)。

Do you want to(你想……吗)是邀请某人做某事的一种比较随便的问话方式。

Sure. That sounds great( 当然。那真好)是接受邀请的一种口语化的表达法。

Yuri: Nice to meet you.

Now let’s review the vocabulary

Hey is an informal way to say “hello.”

What’s up? is a more informal way to ask “How’s it going?” or “What’s new?”

Can’t complain is an informal way to respond to the question “How’s it going?” or “What’s up?” The phrase can’t complain means that the person has no recent complaints about life.

Nice to meet you is used when meeting someone for the first time. A response to nice to meet you is nice to meet you, too.

Starting a question with do you want to is an informal way to invite someone to do something.

Sure. That sounds great is an informal way to accept an invitation.

The American English website offers a variety of free resources for learners and teachers of English. The American English Facebook page posts learning materials for English-language learners daily.
