  近日，以内政部部长差瓦乐 . 参威拉军为团长的泰国农业考察团到广西考察。应邀给客人重点介绍了广西热带农业。

  广西热带农业区域11.4万平方公里、占全区总面积的48.3%，占全国热作区总面积的38.5%，列全国第一位。跟随其后的是云南、广东、海南和福建。因此，广西热带农业在全国举足轻重。比如木薯生产（包括面积和产量）全国第一，芒果、龙眼、荔枝、香蕉和木瓜生产也很有特色。

  2009年，广西木薯生产创历史新高。是年全区木薯种植面积28.7万公顷，鲜木薯720万吨。2010年由于干旱等原因，预计产量比上年减15%左右，总产量约550万吨，而今年木薯原料（鲜薯）需求量为1000万吨，缺口达450万吨。

  加工方面，全区有加工企业120家，主要产品是淀粉和酒精。年生产淀粉60万吨左右，占全国总产量70%以上。

  目前全区尚未开发的宜农荒地约800万公顷，其中约200万公顷适于发展木薯生产。培育和推广优良品种，是今后发展木薯的主攻方向。

                          Tropical Agriculture in Guangxi

 Guangxi covers an area of 236 thousand square kms, of which tropical area 114 thousand square kms, 48.3 per cent of the total of Guangxi, 38.5 per cent of the total tropical area in China, the first place of the whole nation, followed by the provinces of Yunnan\ Guangdong, Hainan and Hujian. Therefore, tropical agriculture in Guangxi plays an important role in the whole nation. For example, cassava production in the region ranks the number one in China. The other tropical crops include mango, banana, papaya, longan and litchi.

 In the year of 2009, an area of 287 thousand hectares was planted to cassava with a production of 7.2 million tones, making a historical record. The production this year would be 5.5 million tones, decreased by 15 per cent as compared with last year, the gap between supply and demand reaches 4.5 million tones.

 At the present, there are about 120 processing enterprises in Guangxi, the final products are starch and alcohol. Guangxi produces 600 thousand tones of starch annually, more than 70 per cent of the total production in the nation.
