My Ways of Learning English

    English is the most widely used language in the world. As a student in the 21^st century, learning a foreign language well is necessary. Unfortunately, a few of my classmates don’t learn English well, so they want to give up. Therefore，I think I should help them with their English. Here are my ways of learning English.

    First of all, I usually learn English by listening to the tapes. Correct pronunciation is the most important thing for beginners. I listen to the tape carefully every evening and read every sentence after the tape to improve my pronunciation. In this way, my English sounds very nice now, and I am more confident in learning English.

    Second, I think reading is another important way to learn English. I usually learn new words by reading English magazines. By reading, I not only learn a lot of words, but also get to know how to use them. Reading helps me to understand grammar better, it makes grammar more interesting.

    As for speaking, I join the English cub to practice spoken English. I talk with different students and foreign teachers. Just as the saying goes “practice makes perfect.”  In my opinion, the best way of learning English is talking in English as much as possible. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes. The more we speak, the fewer mistakes we ‘ll make. Only in this way can we learn English well.

     I know it isn’t easy to learn English well, but I have some ideas that may help.

    You said you couldn’t understand people who talked fast. Well, you can try to listen for the most important words, not every word. You can also do lots of listening practice. I think it’s one of the secrets to becoming a good learner.

    Another thing that I think is important is English grammar. In order to learn it well, you have to take a lot of grammar notes in every class. You can write English sentences using the grammar you are learning.

   You can also read more English books. Reading is as important as listening for us to learn English well. If you do so, I believe that you can learn English very well late on.

    As a good leaner, we should have good habits and ways of learning. We need to get ready for our lessons before class and always listen carefully in class. After class, we must go over the lessons and finish our homework on time. It’s good to study in groups and help each other. As a student, working hard is important but don’t forget to do sports and keep healthy.

We should do more reading in our free time. If we have any problems, we’d better ask others for help.

The Spring Festival is the most important festival for Chinese and it's my favorite festival, too. Like Christmas in the West, all people living away from home go back about half a month before the Spring Festival.

The Spring Festival falls on the 1st day of the 1st lunar month. On Spring Eve, my family watch the Spring Gala together and on the midnight, we set off firecrackers to ring out the old year and ring in the new one. My grandmother told me that Year is a monster so that people play firecrackers to drive it away. I also pay a new year visit to my grandparents and relatives and they always give me some gift money. In the past, teachers kept on explaining the language points in class. We students just listened and took some notes.
