agreement [[5grI:m[nt] n.  (指两个或多于两个以上的人,团体,公司,政府等所作的
口头或书面的协议)协议;协定
—The agreement between them was written and signed.    他们之间的协议已经签署好了。
* gentlemen's agreement [5dVentlm[n] n.(非书面的,以信任为基础的)君子协定;绅士协定
—We should set a gentlmen's agreement to finish the task on time.
    我们应该订个君子协定按时完成任务。gentlemen
这些词汇应该记住:
1. bargain [5bB:gin] n.  (指双方或各方约定彼此要为对方做的事情)协议
—Will you keep your side of the bargain ?     你那一方能遵守协议吗?
* to strike a bargain with sb. [5straik] (尤指经屡次磋商和争论之后)达成协议      
—They struck a bargain with the landlord that they would look after the garden in return
    for being allowed to used it.  
    他们与房东达成协议,允许他们使用花园,但须负责照管。
* wet bargain n.  当事人喝酒时达成的交易
2. bond [5bCnd] n.  (指具有法律的书面协定或允诺)契约;协定
—We entered into a solemn bond.    我们缔结了一项正式协定。
3. compact [5kCmpAkt] n.  协议;条约
—The two states made a compact to cooperate against terrorism.   
     两国签订了反恐怖主义合作协议。
4. conclusion [k[n5klU:V[n] n.  协定;条约
—Hostilities ended with the conclusion of a peace treaty.   
    和平条约签订之后,战争随之结束。
5. covenant [5kQv[n[nt] n.  (有法律约束力的)协议;公约
—He signed a covenant against under letting the premises. 
    他签署了一个反对廉价出租房屋的契约。 
* covenant [5kQv[n[nt] v.  订立契约等
—I've covenanted with them to pay£100 a year.    我立约承诺每年捐款100英镑。
6.convention [k[n5venF[n] n.  (指国家,首脑等之间的)协议;协定
—Japan has signed a convention of peace with a neighbouring country.
    日本已与邻国签署一项和平协定。
7. deal [dI:l] n.  (尤指生意或政治上双方的)协议
—We did a deal with the management on overtime.  
     在加班问题上我们与管理部门达成一项协议。
8. pact [5pAkt] n.  (新闻标题用词;指人,团体,国家间的)条约
—The two opposition parties made an electoral pact.
     那两个反对党订了一个有关选举的协定。
9. protocol [5pr[Ut[kCl] n.  (尤指协定的条款)议定书;草约
—The schedule a and b attached to this protocol shall form an integral part of the protocol.
     附在本议定书后面的附表a和b是本议定书的一个组成部分。
* internet protocol [pr[Ut[kCl]  n.  (IT术语)互联网络协定
10. settlement [5setlm[nt] n.  (指解决双方争端的)正式协议
—They failed to reach a settlement in the trade war.    他们在贸易战中未能达成协议。
11. treaty [5trI:ti] n.  (正式用词;指国与国之间缔结的具有法律效力的条约)条约;协定
—The two countries entered into a commerce treaty.    这两个国家之间缔结了通商条约。
这些词汇应该知道, 掌握更好:
1. to close with sb. [5kl[Us wIT]  与...达成协议           
—It was such a great offer that I closed with him on the spot.   
     报价非常好,我当场就跟他拍板了。
2. to come to terms with sb. [5kQm 5t[:mz]  达成协议
—They come to terms with the new manager.    他们同新经理达成协议。
* to come to an understanding  [9Qnd[5stAndIN]    达成协议
—They failed to come to an understanding and the subject was held over till next meeting.   
     他们未能达成协议,把问题推迟到下次会议上讨论。 
3. to compound with sb for sth. [k[m5paund wIT]  (就某事)达成协议
—He compounded with his creditors for a postponement of payment.   
    他与债权人达成协议延期付款。  
4. to conclude sth. with sb. [k[n5klU:d wIT]   达成条约等
—Britain concluded a trade agreement with China.    英国和中国签署了贸易协定。
5. to reach an understanding [5rI:tF]   达成协议
—I thought we had reached to an understanding on this matter.   
    我认为我们在这件事情上已达成了协议。
6. to strike a deal [5straik 5dI:l]   达成协议
—The US and China have recently struck a deal over trade.   
     美国和中国最佳就贸易问题达成了一项协议。
