This set of pictures capture two vivid butquite different scenes. In the first drawing, a father, who is watching TV inthe armchair by himself, is requesting his son to study hard. However, his sonseems very absent-minded. By stark contrast, the father in the second drawingis instead working in front of the writing desk with his son and therefore hisson dedicates himself to studying, following his father’s example. Theintention of the artist can be well reflected in the subtitle: “rather thanbeing a demander, one should be a role-model.” 

Admittedly, the phenomenon depicted is quiteprevailing in our society as a growing number of parents are attaching muchimportance to offering their kids the best education. Unfortunately, theseparents have ignored the most important element in their teaching method –themselves. The primary factor is that children spend most of the time withtheir parents and witness their behaviors every day. As a result, children willimitate or copy their parents. If a father likes smoking, his son might becomeaddicted to smoking. If a father likes reading, his son might fall in love withbooks. Parents are the best examples of their children. As the saying goes, “Likefather, like son”. Moreover, Children will rely heavily on their parents intheir daily life. Parents should gain their trust by behaving themselves and leadtheir children to the right track. 

Children are the future of our nation. To advocate the importance of parents’ role in education, the mass media should be held accountable. To the best of my knowledge, they should make relevant public campaign to advocate the idea that parents should play a vital role in nurturing their children. Watch your character, it may become your children’s destiny!
