Orfevre, Japan’s first Triple Crown winner since the great Deep Impact in 2005,

 has won the nation’s highest accolade after being named the Japan Racing Association’s Horse of the Year for 2011.

The son of Stay Gold,

who also beat his elders in the Arima Kinen,

is set to be targeted at the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in 2012,

when the Dubai World Cup meeting may also be on the agenda.

Trainer Yasutoshi Ikee seid "I am very honoured - I hope he will win the Arc de Triomphe and grab the title of ‘Horse of the World' this year."
