Asia's largest yeast manufacturer Angel Yeast Co. Ltd. is expanding its animal nutrition operations and, as of May 2012, will increase its production capacity for feed yeast with the opening of a new manufacturing line dedicated to the production of feed yeast products at its facility in Yichang, China.With an annual production capacity of 8,000 tons, the Yichang line is expected to help Angel Yeast to strengthen its position as leading supplier of yeast source feed in China.
Talking to Feedinfo News Service, Mr. Yu Xuefeng, the executive director of China Feed Industry Association, and President of Angel Yeast, said that his company initially decided to extend its food yeast knowhow to animal nutrition in order to cater for the rising demand for yeast products from the livestock industry, which is increasingly seeking to satisfy the consumer’s desire for safe, nutritional and healthy animal protein products.Angel Yeast believes that yeast source biofeeds have a bright future ahead as food safety remains a major concern for consumers, while the use of antibiotics is being restricted."We should push ahead with the application of yeast sourced biofeeds vigorously to improve the technological development and satisfy the consumer’s demand for safe, nutritional and healthy products”, said Angel Yeast’s President.In 2002, Angel Yeast established its "Fubon" animal nutrition product range of yeast source biofeeds. And, for the past decade, the company has developed a series of products to meet demand in this area. The Fubon range is manufactured in 3 of Angel Yeast's Chinese plants, which enables the company to avoid any supply risks. Fubon products are now sold across China and in via Angel Yeast's global network.Yu Xuefeng said that over the years his company has noticed that more and more feed products originate from yeast.The company’ own offerings include Fubon autolyzed yeast, selenium yeast, or even yeast polysaccharides, which are increasingly used by foreign and domestic companies wanting to reduce antibiotic applications.
