RECENT CHANGES IN CHINESE FAMILY
LIFE
Antiquity, conservation and mystery. When it
comes to China, these are the very words that come pouring out of
our mind. Yet now is the time that the terracotta soldiers draped
on the cloak of vogue. As never before in their long history,
Chinese families has witnessed untold changes in their daily
life.
THE ONE WITH THE WAKE OF THE
NEW ERA OF INTERNET
As the computer technology links the world as
never before, our planet has shrunk. Back to 20 years ago, info are
conveyed by letters or telegrams. Internet and computer
technologies has as well changed what children play and the way
they play. In this age of Internet chat, videogames and reality
television, there’s no shortage of mindless activities to keep a
child occupied, and more often than not they involve violence and
erotica which is totally unsuitable for children and adolescent. My
humble opinion is that children are supposed to gather together and
do all the hopping, yelling and crawling when they play as our
parents’ generation did. Embrace the nature, shaped up to have zest
for life, that is legitimate how children growing up.
THE ONE WHEN CHILDREN ARE MORE
AUTONOMOUS
“Do what I told ya!” This is just like Chinese parents’ motto right
in the past. Children are supposed to act exactly as the way
they’re taught from the way they use chopsticks to the kind of
people they should marry. For now, Chinese parents are getting way
more open minded. Boys are allowed to say no when they didn’t agree
with Dad, and it’s all up to the girls themselves to decide to whom
they lost their virginity. Yet despite the fact that let children
paddle their own canoe is a great step forward, thrashing your
children when necessary is still a grand tradition. For instance,
you do should punch your child hardly when he’s trying to do
shoplifting. That sounds bit of a violence but it will save him
from horrible mistakes in the future.
Tons of changes there, two
outlined, to cut a long speech short.
