强调句型It +be …that…的十项注意

1．    It be +被强调部分+that…这一结构可以用来强调除谓语动词以外的大多数句子成分，被强调的部分通常是句子的主语，宾语，状语（多为时间状语和地点状语）如：

We saw Tom and Helen in the street at Christmas.

It was we that saw Tom and Helen in the street at Christmas.（强调主语）

It was Tom and Helen that we saw in the street at Christmas.（强调宾语）

It was in the street that we saw Tom and Helen at Christmas.（强调地点状语）

It was at Christmas that we saw Tom and Helen in the street.（强调时间状语）

2． 强调句型中的be动词不受被强调部分单复数的影响，只有is 和was 两种形式不可用are或 were ；一般的规律是：原来的句子是现在时和将来时用It is …that… ，若是过去时用It was…that…；有时be  动词可采用复杂的形式。
It is I that am leaving for London next week.
It was he/they that helped the old man across the street.
It may/might have been John that gave Mary a handbag.

3． 当被强调的部分是句子的主语：a）指人时，that 可用who 代替，此时应注意主谓一致，即that/who 后的谓语动词必须在人称和数上与主语一致b) 若是代词，必须用主格形式。
It is not only blind men that /who make such stupid mistakes.
It is I that/who am a new winner of the gold medal.

4． 当被强调部分是句子的宾语，a) 指人时，that 间或可用whom代替；b)若是代词，须用其宾格形式；c) 若是双宾语中的间接宾语时，可根据上下文，句意，句型结构，习惯搭配等来添加介词，以明确逻辑关系。
It was her that/whom I wanted to call on the other day.
John gave /bought Mary a handbag at Christmas.
It was Mary that John bought a handbag for at Christmas.

5． 当被强调的部分是状语时，a) 可以是多种状语成分b) 在强调时间和地点状语时，that  不能用when 和where取代c) 被强调的部分不能是 as/since引导的原因状语从句，although/though引导的让步状语从句，if引导的条件状语从句
For two years it was there that we had received all the news of battles ,of victories and defeats.（地点状语）
It is very happily that she agreed to help.（方式状语）
It is after liberation that the Chinese people began a new life.（时间状语）
It is when she was about to go to bed that the telephone rang.（时间状语从句）
It is because it raised so many difficult questions that the book took a long time to come out.（原因状语从句）

6． 被强调的部分如果是 not…until…，其格式是It be not until ….that…  如：
She didn’t realize she had forgotten her book until she arrived in class.

其强调形式为：It was not until she arrived in class that she realized she had forgotten her book.

7． 强调句型的一般疑问句，其格式为Be it …that…： 如：
Was it during the Second World War that he died?

8． 对特殊疑问句中的疑问词的强调，其格式为：疑问词+be+it+that+ 其它。如：What does he want us to do ? 的强调形式为：What is it that he wants us to do?

9． 强调句型的附加疑问句是对that 之前的部分提出疑问
It was in the dining hall that you lost your wallet ,wasn’t it ?

10．注意强调句型与定语从句等句型的区别，要认真审题，切忌似是而非致错。
   Was it in the school that she once studied in her childhood?（强调句型）
   Was it the school that she once studied in her childhood?（定语从句）
   Was the school the one she once studied in in her childhood?（定语从句）
