without和with no有何不同？

问：同是“没有”的意思，为什么下面两个句子中一句用without, 另一句用with no? 请问二者有何不同？

      (1) No fish can live without water.

          (2) He was a man with no interest in children.                             

   答：（1）第一句中的without是with的反义词，相当于汉语的“没有”或“不”。without构成的介词短语可以代替一个句子，常常用来做条件从句。比如本句：No fish can live without water （鱼儿离不开水。）= No fish can live if there is no water. (如果没有水，鱼儿就没法活。--- 注意：这是一个双重否定句。) 再比如：We must be firm without bulling. = We must be firm but we must not bully them.（我们必须坚定，但不能欺负他们。）

（2）第二句中的no 是否定形容词，等于not any，强调否定意义，通常放在句子的开头（比如第一句No fish can live…）或其他需要强调否定含义的地方（第二句中…no interest in children.）
