work at 和work on、at the edge of 和 on the edge of有什么区别？

              问：我有两个问题不大清楚，希望能给予解答： （1）work at 和work on都有“从事、研究”的意思，

        那么应如何区别呢？（2）at the edge of 和 on the edge of 有什么区别？

       答：（1）work at可以表示“从事、钻研” 和“在某地工作”，强调“努力的程度”。  比 如：I’m  

         working at my novel.（我在写说。）/ How long have you been working at the bank? （你在银行工作了多

     久？）

   而work on (upon) 表示“从事”时，强调“工作的对象”和“持续性”。比如：I’m working on my novel.

（我正在写我的小 说。）

        （2）at the edge of 和on the edge of在表示“在。。。。。。的边缘”时，一般是可以 互换使用。但是，前

      者强调所处的位置是一个点，后者强调所处的位置是一 条线或一个平面，并且还具有“濒于，即将”的

      意思。比如：At the edge of the lake,  women were doing their washing.（妇女在湖边洗衣服。）/ There was

        a   cottage on the edge of a forest. （树林边有一间小屋。） /  She is on the edge of death.（她 奄奄一息。）
