Idealism and realism

In my opinion, the movie“freedom writers”tells us about idealism and realism in the society, and of course in education system. There are many kinds of people in the education system, however, I want to divide them into two kinds: ones are realism, the others are idealism. For the former, most of them know nothing more or seldom want to know nothing more about the “ideal world”——which is different from our real world. Even when they know about it, just like the colonel in the movie “scent of a woman” said in the final speech“life is so damn hard”, and they don’t have the courage or the ability to realize their ideas! For the latter, just like the protagonist in this movie, she defines herself as an ordinary person, and also every one of us! But she gradually finds her idea and want to realize it——she wants to be a good teacher, who can help better change those “so-called” bad students from different but all grassroots, complicated, full-of-violence-and-death, tragic and hard-to-change backgrounds! And then she almost pour all her energy into her job——which is also her mission, she even doesn’t have time for her husband because of limited financial support from the special school.

Finally, she loses her husband’s heart, but she wins her father’s envy from the bottom of his heart! And what’s more, she realize her idea and I really think she can find a man who can better love her deeply and two of them will get together and drive on the road all through to idealism.

Idealism is a very important element in our society. As every one of us knows, all of us are going to die one day. So, when we are young, we need to think about “what’s my life is for?” Apart from supporting yourself, raising a family, showing filial love to our parents, giving help to our friends when it’s possible, we can still hold a real dream in our heart. Our society is complicated, it has gone through thousands of years and more than that, and then one day, you come here! Gradually you get to know this world a little more, you have your confusion and your difficulties in this world, but you need to know, you are not the only one in the society with problems and confusions, everyone from every generation has! The point is what you can do to change something irrational and leads the society to a better one, which means more fair, harmonious and much better for everyone in the same Earth. We are still far away from the perfection situation! The same is to our society. However, in our limited life span, we can do something meaningful to improve the situation to a higher level materially, economically mentally and spiritually.

Teachers, as engineer of human civilization, they shoulder the responsibility of cultivating people, contributing to the society’s development and prompting the advance of knowledge. Of the three responsibilities, I think “cultivating people” is the most challenging and valuable mission. And for this noble mission, I think to sow the seed of idealism in youngsters’ heart field is very important. Not only for its far-reaching significance to our society but also to every single person! Well, there is another world named ideal world apart from this real one!
