Congratulations! Suzhou Museum West is unveiled to the public
on Sep. 29, 2021.
Suzhou Museum was built in 1960, redesigned by the
world-famous architect, I.M.Pei in 2004, and reopened to the public
in 2006.
The West Hall was designed by GMP, a global renowned Germany
design company. Some people joked it consisted of ten boxes. In
fact, it looks like ten square lattices if we see it from the
air.
The museum has 5 main exhibition halls including Suzhou
history, Suzhou arts, international cooperation, multimedia
display, exploration and experience.
In the History Hall, visitors can learn Suzhou history well
through over 1200 cultural relics since over 10 thousand years ago,
some of which are rarely displayed.
In the Arts Hall, more than 800 exquisite handcrafts of Suzhou
were displayed, which is said to contribute to the development of
Chinese traditional culture and arts.
The top highlight is the International Cooperation Hall; it is
said that the museum has already signed a contract with the British
Museum for consecutive 4 years themed on the world
civilization.
It exhibits about 267 cultural relics targeted on the Ancient Roman Empire in the first year, which were imported from the British Museum.
The museum seems like a window, where visitors can learn the
world civilization without leaving Suzhou and China.
