I booked the bus ticket online to Eilat and planned to
transfer to Jordan through arrival visa. I printed my paper ticket
from the machine successfully and bought some food for my lunch.
The bus station seems like a shopping complex connecting everywhere
in the downtown.
Fortunately, I met two young guys from Hong Kong on the bus.
They were also traveling to Jordan, so we decided to go together.
Four and half an hour later, we arrived at Eilat, the southern end
of Israel. We spent half an hour bargaining with local taxi drivers
and finally, one old guy would like to take us to the border
between Israel and Jordan.

It was my first time to walk to one country from another country. Many people were crowded to wait for their arrival visas in a long line.

We were happy to know taxi could take us to Wadi Rum directly,
however, to be suprised, the taxi in the border took us somewhere
and we were transferred to another private taxi. We had no choice,
we thought it was one kind of corruption. As you see, two taxis
were different as follows.

The taxi took us to the visitor center of village, we bought
the tickets and booked one camp in the desert. The driver of the
camp owner discussed our schedule in the following two days before
he picked us up to the camp.
The driver drove us for one hour in the desert. We left our
luggages in our camp and were eager to see the sunset. The two guys
in the top photo were my new friends from Hong Kong, and the person
in the below was from Brussels, Belgium, he had already been hiking
for two weeks in Jordan.
How stunning the sunset was! We stared at the sinking sunset
and enjoyed the amazing nature silently for over half an
hour.

Wadi Rum, translating either as 'Valley of sand' or the 'Roman
Valley', the latter due to the propensity of Roman architecture in
the area, known as the Valley of the Moon, is a valley cut into the
sandstone and granite rock in southern Jordan 60 km to the east of
Aqaba. It is the largest wadi in Jordan.
The owner was waiting us for dinner when we got back to the
camp.
It was interesting the chef had buried the hot chicken, onion
and potatoes in the sands for hours so that all of them were
tender.

The food was so delicious that most of us ate a lot. We all were full and started to play games around the campfire. Some friends were singing when others played the drums.

We all had a wonderful good time at that night. It was so
quiet that I heard nothing but my breath when I lay on the bed.
There were so many sparkling stars and full moon hanging on the
sky, which reminded me of the Chinese Middle Autumn Festival.
