Sublime Myanmar

Myanmar is not a popular tourist
destination in China, so I didn't know too much about it before I
traveled to it last Chinese Spring Festival. It sounded a little
mysterious but interesting when I heard Myanmar at first time. More
and more foreign friends of mine started to talk about it from time
to time, what's more, most of them thought it was a nice &
unique tourist destination in Asia. Therefore, I decided to go
there to experience by myself.
In terms of the limited time, I
chose three cities, Yangon/仰光, Bagon/蒲甘 and
Mandalay/曼德勒 , as my
final destinations. They all have both rich culture and long
history, but I expected exploring much more than what I read in
books and online.
Yangon
Yangon is my first stop as an ancient capital city. I visited
some popular attractions such as the Shwedagon/仰光大金塔 and
participated in a two-day mediation. But the most impression for me
was to witness the Dancing Lions Race in China Town, which I have
never seen in China before.

Bagan
Bagan, located on the banks of the
Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) River, is home to the largest and densest
concentration of Buddhist temples, pagodas, stupas and ruins in the
world with many dating from the 11th and 12th centuries. The shape
and construction of each building is highly significant in Buddhism
with each component part taking on spiritual meaning.
I found authentic local native culture, landscape and
lifestyle when I drove a little away from the downtown.
Mandalay
Mandalay is the second largest city
in Burma (after Yangon), and a former capital of Myanmar. It is the
economic and religious hub of upper Myanmar and is centered around
the royal palace.
Mandalay has wide lanes filled with bicycles and motorcycles
and is known for its cultural diversity. Half of Burma's monks
reside in Mandalay and the surrounding areas.
Special experience
Over 70 percent of local people
believe in Buddhism, which plays a huge effect on all walks of life
in Myanmar. Meditation is one kind philosophy originated from
Buddhism.
The street food can be found everywhere, which has been one
essential part life of local people.
Some areas are starting to develop the leisure industry
especially around fabulous landscapes.
There are a lot of places where you can manage to see the
splendid sunset once in Bagan and Mandalay.
Puppet show is the national performance of Myanmar, so try to
watch one of them in the journey.
Particularly, I bought two books, had a haircut, watched two
movies and tried local SPA in Myanmar. In fact, I tried to live as
locals as possible as I can. If you want to know what I experienced
specifically in Myanmar, please follow up the coming
articles!
