Marrakech is the must-see tourist destination when you travel in
Morocco. It is the transit city to desert Sahara, what's more, it
has a lot of UNESCO world cultural heritage sites.

We happened to witness local artisan to show us how to make some small stuff, which is essential when the palace is refurbished.

Place Jemaa
el-Fna
Jemaa el-Fna is the most famous public square in Morocco,
which was inscribed as the world cultural heritage site in 1985 and
the oral & intangialbe world cultural heritage site as well in
2001.
It used to be the place to execute in the 12th century, but it
has been converted into the popular stage since the 17th century,
where all folk groups would like to perform.
There are many booths serving the fruit juice and food for
people around the square. They always yell to compete for each
other when they see tourists passing by.

It is an unique experience to taste the local food with such
authentic atmosphere, so many people would come to enjoy their
dinners at night.
It is another better opinion to select a higher place to
appreciate the night view while you are eating your meals.
Mosque Koutoubia
The mosque was built in the 12th century and the height of its
lighthouse reaches 77 meters. It is amazing that it can hold twenty
thousand believers at the same time, but it only opens to the
believers rather than tourists. What's more, it seems to become the
hallmark of Marrakech.

Ancient Medina
It is highly preservsed well, so it is a pleasant thing to
wander in the ancient medina.
I was often excited to see something what I unexpected.
It used to be the palace by Si
Moussa in the 19th century and then tranfered into the palace,
where his son's 4 wives and 24 concubines lived. Bahia means
beautiful & starry and it was named after the 4th wife.

Tombeaux Saadiens
It is unbelievable to be unveiled by flight perchance 1917,
but it must date back to the 16th century.

Palais El-Badi
The palais was built in 1578 and was
the outstanding representative of architectures at that
period.

It is also a good place to overlook the whole city on the
top.

Jardin Majorelle
Jacques Majorelle was a French
Painter and bought the land when he settled down in Marrakech in
the beginning of the 20th century.

He was fascinated by horticulture, so he started to build the
impressionistic garden with Arabic style.

There are luxuriant tropical plants in the garden.

A French fashionist calledYves Saint Laurent
visited the garden perchance and loved it very much, so he and his
lover bought it in 1980.

The garden is so beautiful & romantic that many young couples enjoy it inside.

It received hundreds of thousands of believers from other cities across Morocco in the past 4 centuries and many tourists come to visit every day because of its excellent reputation.

It used to be a palace in the 19th century and very close
to Medersa
Ben-Youssef. I don't recommend to visit it because there are not
too many relics in the museum.

Medersa Ben-Youssef
This religious architecture was build in the 16th century. It
has 132 rooms and can hold at most 900 students.

Museum de Marrakech
The souks are worth visiting in
Marrakech. They are divided into many regions based on the stuff
category. It looks like a labyrinth, so tourists are often lost
their ways.
About Transportation
Tourists can take trains from
Marrakech to other cities around Morocco, but the trains are not
always on time and run very slowly. For an example, it takes over 3
hours from Marrakech to Casablanca, 200 kilometers
away.
About Accommodation
There are a lot of homestay hotels aound the ancient medina.
It is very convenient for tourists to go everywhere in Marrakech.
Raid is one of their popular homestay brands in
Morocco.

About Food
Local food is very simple for Muslim
and tourists don't have too much choice, but try to taste some
in Place Jemaa
el-Fna.
Longer I stayed in Marrakech, more wonders I would
discover.
