How can we wake up and control our inside world? Meditation can help train us. Where and how can we get into mediation class? I traveled to Chiangmai, Thailand on National Days Holiday, to meditate for my soul and heart I applied for five- day mediation class on the website of International Buddhism Center, which is situated at the hillside of Doi Suthep – Pui National Park, Chiangmai, Thailand. It is also inside Suthep Temple, which is the most famous temple in Thailand. Few days later, feedback showed I succeed.
When I arrived there, I couldn’t stop loving it. It is surrounded by big green trees and no other sounds except birds singing and crickets chirping. My heart calmed down suddenly.
What would the teacher teach us? How could we be good at meditation? First, we should keep quiet as possible as we can so as to listen to our sounds from inside world. Second, practice much more walking, sitting and sleeping.
Don’t laugh at me. Don’t think you could walk, sit and sleep better than me. It is totally different from what we had done in the daily life. Taking the walking for an example, we should walk very slowly while opening our eyes. Lift our left foot, move forward, put down it, and then lift right foot, move forward, put down it. Again and again, fifteen minutes for a short break. At the beginning, I couldn’t focus on my inside world. I often were disturbed by outside world. I imaged other things when we were walking.
Don’t give up and practice again and again. I began to focus on our inside worlds slowly two days later. I would forget outside world at all and relax myself very much. It is likely that it is difficult to control our cars when we are learning how to drive at the beginning. But when we drove a lot we would forget the steering wheel at all. Every day, I had to share our feeling with the teacher. Of course, I could ask him any question and he would give some useful advice to me.
Five
days later, I could focus on my mind more and more. Sometimes, I
couldn’t feel my legs and feet even existed. I could train my
feeling always following my mind. But if there were some sounds
from outside world, I would be disturbed. I should practice more
and more, but I had to leave. The teacher asked me to practice
walking, sitting at least one time everyday when I came back
home.
When
I came back to old town of Chiangmai after meditation, I attended
two days' trekking trip with other eight foreign visitors. It was
very fantastic experience, even though it was very hard
