We go to Monument directly in the morning because we have bought tickets with London Bridge yesterday. It is reported Monument is the better to overlook London than other places such as London Eyes. It was built almost 400 years ago in order to celebrate rebuilding of London after a big fire. Furthermore, it is cheaper than others. We climb 391 steps and then reach the top. We meet a local man who is recording the sounds from the top. It is very interesting, isn’t it?
Our second stop is St. Paul’s Cathedral, which was built over one thousand years ago. Many big affairs happened here. For example, Prince Chars and Princess Danna held their wedding and Edinbiz also held her Jubilee ceremony in St. Paul’s Cathedral. When we entered, we are shocked by its amazing architecture and painting. Climb the 528 steps to the Golden Gallery above the dome for amazing view of the City.
Next stop is British Museum, which is the most famous and also controversial around world. It is housing artefacts of global importance from all world cultures. Star exhibits include Ancient Egyptian artefacts – the Rosetta Stone on the ground floor, mummies upstairs – and Greek antiquities, including the Parthenon sculptures.
We have our afternoon tea time in University of London, which is very close to British Museum. We meet a mother who is waiting for her daughter in the campus and discussed the education difference because England and China. She always encourages her child to learn Madrian because she thinks Chinese language will be another official business language.
The last stop is Hyde Park, which is one of royal parks and the biggest park in London. Many people are enjoying themselves here. Some are playing with their child, some are playing football and some are lying in the grass ground. The most interesting is people can feed squirrels and pigeon with their hands.
