Shantan is one of the most popular attractions in Suzhou, which is located at the west old city of Suzhou. It was designed and buitl over 1100 years ago by Mr. Baijuyi, one famous poet in Tang dynasty, who happened to be mayor of Suzhou at that time. He wanted to provide much more convenience for local people who traveled from old city of Suzhou to Tiger Hill.

I attended the opening ceremony of Shantang culture and tourism festival three days ago. Many local residents particpated and enjoyed their own festival. Moreover, most of performances were from themselves. They were singing, dancing, telling lovely story what was happening in their lives. It was very interesting and funny, even though they weren't professional actors and actresses .

I think people need such this stage to show their talent, and other people can enjoy these activities. It is good to all the people, isn't it. The vitality of one city can benefit from such wonderful activity. I hope more activities are hold, more happiness people would get in the city.
