Suzhou has many ancient water towns, such as Zhouzhuang, Tongli, Louzhi, etc. Most of them are very crowded because of they are well-known by tourists. But there are still some pure water towns, which wouldn’t be known by many tourists. They are well-preserved and keep very quiet even in the Gold Week holiday. Shaxi is just one of them.

Shaxi is situated at the north of Taicang County, Suzhou. The location is very convenient, just thirty minutes from Taican, less than an hour from Suzhou and Shanghai, and the infrastructure is very good. Shaxi has very pure water-town scenes, friendly people, wonderful cuisine, quiet environment, and so on. In my opinion, it deserves visiting, epecially in the crowded Gold Week holiday.
