It took us 3 hours from Zhangzhou city center to Dongshan country, which is located at the most southern of Fujian Province. Before liberation, there were sands all around, which is very different from what we see now, so that none of plants could live, and people were so poor that they had to beg to others at that time. The local governments were struggling for many years, but they couldn’t change this situation until Mr. Gu wenchang was in charge of Dongshan county.

Mr. Gu worked very hard, and devoted all his life to solving this difficulties. After hard efforts, he thought one good way to solve it at last. That was planting one kind of special trees as more as possible. Afterwards, local people needn’t go out to beg and could live well. Though Mr. Gu passed away in 1981, local government and people set up memorial museum in order to memory him. Here are some photos.
