Why this kind of books became the most popular ones? Is it a good thing?

I think what Daniel Coyle wanna tell us are:

1. People learn faster and faster as the more and more mistakes they make.

2. So we need to set a goal, and get ready to face failures, because if we make the mistakes for no reason, we still can’t improve ourselves. But once we achieved that goal, we will learn something.

3.It’s important to find a way to practice more that we don’t need to be worried about making more mistakes. It doesn’t hurt anything if we practice and make mistakes in this way.

I think his main idea is not about facing failures, but about setting a goal, learning more as we making more mistakes in a safe way by practicing intensively to achieve that goal. He is showing us a way to approve ourselves.

There are many this kind of books on the market now, I think because the whole world is developing rapidly, faster than anytime in the history. Everybody is under a big pressure, and face many competitors everyday. So everybody is eager to develop oneself as soon as possible. The writers know our psychology, and it turned out that this kind of books are always the most popular ones in the bookstores.

The write also gave us many examples to make to the book more interesting. But I don’t think it’s very practical though. It is like fast food, after we read it, we think we know something, and we can even just follow the recipes they gave us leading to the success. But I still the classic books are more good for me, can make me think more about life, which it’s the most important thing. I hope I am not just a profit-making machine.

But I am not saying this kind of books are all bad, I’ve read Dale Carnegie’s books and learned a lot. I guess many people also learned a lot from this kind of books. It’s true those books can make us have a positive attitude. And one of the purposes that the writer wrote this book must to be helping people to be successful. But I just don’t feel it’s right that this kind of books became the most popular ones in the bookstores.
