Something you think is a waste of timeWell, I believe it is absolutely a colossal waste of time to commute long distances to work on weekdays. And if there were a traffic jam or something, all the traffic would be at a standstill, and God knows how long it would take the traffic to get moving again. You know, the housing price in Dalian is outrageously expensive, so I choose to live in the suburbs outside the city center, like any other young man who just took up employment. Unfortunately, our company is located downtown, and it is about 1.5-hour bus journey from where I live. So I have to get up at 6:00 in the morning to catch the bus, wishing that I could beat the crowd.There is one thing that impressed me a lot, and it happened last year. It was a snowy morning, and the road was quite slippery, so every vehicle had to move rather slowly, and undoubtedly, after a while, the cars were bumper to bumper. So I got stuck in that huge traffic jam. But what drove me nuts was that I gotta attend an online conference, and then you can imagine how devastated I was while waiting the traffic back on track. And at last, you could guess the ending, I was buggered.About the time-wasting thing, there are 2 points that I wanna make. First, government should divert a certain amount of public spending to the improvement of road network. For example, if roads were broadened, the traffic congestion could be alleviated. Then it might shorten my time consumed en route to the workplace. Alternatively, I do hope our boss should implement the teleworking policy, so people like me could work at home and make use of the time saved on the road to perform more tasks, which could literally boost productivity and I wouldn’t need to work overtime as usual.
